[Policy Clarification]
As there have been some questions regarding what materials are allowed and what aren't, below are some clarifications:
- paper dictionary: o
- printed debate material (ex. case files): x
- other printed material (ex. news articles): x
- mobile dictionary: o
- searching online for articles/debate arguments: x
There have been slight changes since the initial tournament policy upload, as was mentioned in an earlier post on this page. We apologize for the confusion.
To summarize, dictionaries are allowed in general, and mobile devices should only be used for dictionaries, checking the time, and contacting CAP for clarifications.
Please remember that all cases of violation will be addressed with utmost seriousness. Debaters are expected to act honorably, and the CAP and equity team will take all necessary measures to ensure the integrity and fairness of this tournament.

[CAP Introductions]
Last but not least, Jeemin Oh from Korea University Debate Club!
My first impression of Jasmine was a really shy and modest newbie who was generally quiet during socials. Maybe it was because she was the single youngest person (she was also underage at that time, occasionally being kicked out of Anam 술집s). She became extra shy when she spoke Korean, always trailing off in mid-sentence… mostly because she couldn't decide whether to finish in 반말 or 존댓말.
This image of Jasmine changed completely after I saw her debate. For the 7 minutes of her speech, the sweet, shy Jasmine was replaced by the aggressive, brutal version of herself, making formidable speeches about loan sharks and organ trading. Starting her speeches with cool EPL intros, she topped the very first round of debate after joining, making older people in the room, including myself, feel 현타. Two weeks after that, she went to RT and became champion. Her grand final speech had a really cool intro that included random phrases like “I have a dream'' and “Lincoln Memorial Hall”.
So Jasmine’s really good at this debate stuff(check out her full ↓↓cv↓↓ I was too lazy to list!). But the more interesting part of Jasmine is that she's super chill and easy-going. She can deal with even the most stressful situations smoothly; whether it be whipping a nonexistent extension, or having an overly judgemental teammate. When we were at last year’s KNC, Jasmine was the only one in our team who didn’t freak out during the finals. She made this really nice reply speech that made us sound like an NGO, eventually getting us to win the trophy. Last semester, Jasmine was one of the two people to remain in the KUDC presidency, smoothly handling a role that was difficult even for three. So, even if some huge catastrophe happens during RT(maybe Youngwoo and DB will be too drunk to judge 😵💫), you don’t have to worry with Jasmine in CAP - she’ll probably find a way to judge three rooms at once.
Anyways, Jasmine isn’t the baby of KUDC anymore 😢 - now she’s a soon-to-be dino and KIDA VP, so I guess she’s a sunbae figure in power. So approach Jasmine during RT for feedback, and she’ll be more than willing to share her insights. She might even give suggestions for a cool intro if she isn’t feeling too lazy! Or just go and say hi to Jasmine, and she’ll say hi back with a sweet smile - this RT is gonna be worth it just for the fact that you can get to know her😉

[CAP Introductions]
The next member on our adj core is Jaeoh Wi from Seoul National University Debate Association!
Hello, KIDA!
It’s my honor to introduce Jaeoh, a new living legend(aka new dinosaur^__^) of SNUDA. For the last two years, he insisted that he would retire from debating, but here I am writing his writeup in senior year! How fun it is!😆
Anyway, having been his partner in more than 6 tournaments and working together in the SNUDA council, I’m sure that he would make the best adjcore member for this tournament. First, he is SUPER smart. As an IR major, he has mastered all the IR issues and I’ve never seen him lose an IR round for 3 years. What’s even more intimidating is that he started double majoring in econ😂 (so try not to debate against him in IR and econ rounds. You might see a huge, red, angry bear.) As he made many entertaining(probably only for him) and creative motions, im sure you will enjoy fun rounds in this RT!
But he is overall just a great debater/judge not only for his extensive background knowledge. Even with a lazy partner like me, he has studied and practiced debating really hard and constantly made lots of achievements as a debater from KIDA RT 2020 to NEADC 2022. He also has lots of experience as a judge in major tournaments like WUDC. I am sure that you can learn a lot from his feedback after the rounds.
But more to the point, he is a really good communicator. While i was not a good listener(^__^), whenever our ideas diverged, he listened carefully to everything and came up with the best solution possible. Also, he is really considerate and always respects others. This makes everyone around him feel comfortable and makes all joint projects end up as a good memory. I am convinced that he has also successfully served as a good leader as well as a good member in this tournament.
While he has had a critical weakpoint of being too OVERCONFIDENT in his alcohol limit, as I educated him in an alcohol battle, now, I’m sure that he would serve as a perfect adj core member in this tournament! Come to this RT and enjoy his wonderful motions~!!! I’m also looking forward to it>.<
I am so proud of you, Jaeoh!

The second member on our adj core is Harin Ok from Yonsei Underwood Union!
Straight up forward, I respect her so much. One of my biggest regrets is retiring without a tournament partnered with Harin.
In 2020-2, debate sessions were barely offline, so I had a difficult time remembering the names of YUU’s new members (yes, my bad). However, Harin’s name was unforgettable. Since the first day she came, it was obvious that this newcomer will be the future of KIDA. It was her first time debating in parliamentary settings, so her style was raw. That didn’t matter though, because her improvement was just meant to be. She had the knowledge, intelligence, and the attitude to become a great debater. I hated COVID for not allowing me to see her on the podium when giving a speech. When I came back to YUU in 2022, Harin was the most renowned speaker in Korea.
If I had the chance to, I would like to witness the efforts Harin has put into debate. I’ve wanted to become that good for like years, but… yeah. It’s actually unimaginable as to how much she tries and practices. Have you ever seen Harin’s calendar or schedule? If I had to live as Harin for just a week, I would literally spend more in the doctor’s office than my earnings. You see, I have seen many diligent people in my life. However, it’s incomparable to how Harin has lived her past three years in Seoul. She would ace all her school work, run multiple jobs, study for her own career, and prepare for debate tourneys. At least that’s what she’s been doing before I went to the army. When I got out of the army, she was still living with that crazy schedule. I sometimes worry that she may get herself sick, but then she would just get sick and still do everything as planned.
This is why Harin is respected both as a debater and a person. Everyone who had worked with her would know what an amazing human being she is. Harin is not only an amazing debater, but also a worker with top-level professionalism. All the work gets done and done well. That’s probably why she is favored as a fellow CAP member by numerous debaters and is actually actively participating as CAP in countless tournaments. She has the debater’s insight, judge’s view, amazing work ethics, and professional attitude. Any tournament that has Harin will be amazing.
But like… stop exploiting her for tournaments… ㅡㅡ
