Watching our Grade 12 students paddle across the water during their Outdoor Education expedition was a powerful reminder of just how far they have come.
From their earliest days in Village School, they have steadily built the skills, resilience, confidence, and self-awareness that define the Outdoor Education journey. This past May, as seniors, they took on one of the longest and most challenging experiences in the program — embracing uncertainty, supporting one another, and pushing beyond their comfort zones.
Seeing them rise to this challenge filled us with pride. More than anything, it felt like watching them prepare for the next great adventure beyond graduation: stepping forward into new opportunities with courage and purpose.
Although we were only able to film one kayaking group, we hope every member of the Class of 2026 can see themselves reflected in this experience. This journey belongs to all of you. Be proud of how far you've come, celebrate one another's achievements, and continue cheering each other on as you embark on the next chapter.
The future is calling — and we can't wait to see where it takes you.

Our Grade 5 students walked their Village School Farewell Walk on the last day of school on June 16. This celebratory walk is a CI tradition to celebrate a special moment of growth. For this event, the entire Village School community, including students, teachers, and parents gathered to cheer Grade 5s on as they left the Village School for the last time and walked over the bridge to the Middle School.

On June 12, Grade 3 students went on a field trip to Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) as part of their inquiry into the central idea that “Design can be informed by various factors.
During this unit, students explored how people design with purpose, how new ideas can lead to innovation, and how designers can be inspired by nature. Students also learned about architect Zaha Hadid through the book The World Is Not a Rectangle. They discovered how she used creative thinking to design unique buildings that look very different from traditional architecture.
At the DDP, students saw many of these ideas in action. They explored the building's curved shapes, open spaces, and innovative design features. The field trip helped students make connections between their classroom learning and the world around them while developing a deeper understanding of how and why people design.

Here are more moments from the Grade 12 Outdoor Education on May 27 - June 5. This culminating OE experience was an important time for our seniors to connect and support one another, navigate challenges, and reflect on their growth before they start their life beyond CI.
We are deeply proud of the way our Grade 12 students approached this final OE journey and grateful to the instructors, faculty, and staff who helped make the program possible.

Grade 12 students went on their last Outdoor Education on May 27 - June 5. Over the course of the program, students traveled through some of the most remote and beautiful landscapes in Korea, exploring Gangwon-do and Gyeongbuk provinces by spending time backpacking, camping, completing solo time, and river kayaking. At the end of the trip, they also came together for a final beach camp to spend time together, reflect on their OE experience, and celebrate their time at Chadwick.
This program is designed as a culminating OE experience, giving students the opportunity to apply the skills they have built throughout their years at Chadwick. Students worked in groups to manage daily routines, support one another, navigate challenges, and reflect on their growth as they prepare to move beyond CI.
We are so proud of the way our Grade 12 students approached this final OE journey and grateful to the instructors, faculty, and staff who helped make the program possible.

On June 10, during Grade 7 Community Engagement Day, students learned about the protected spotted seals of Baengnyeong Island. The session was led by two Grade 9 students who visited Baengnyeong Island during spring break to observe the seals and their habitats in person.
During the presentation, they told the G7s about Baengnyeong Island habitat and why the seals visit the island every year, and how we can help protect the seals.
This activity was supported by the Upper School Marine Biology Club, and is one of the many examples of cross divisional service and community engagement activities that happens across our campus.
