🌍 International Festival 2026

Last week at GIS, we held our annual International Festival, where students represented countries from around the world through posters, presentations, food, games, activities, and cultural displays. 🇰🇷🇯🇵🇧🇷🇺🇸

The amount of creativity, effort, and teamwork put into each booth was genuinely impressive, and it was amazing seeing our gym come alive with so many different cultures all in one place.

Thank you to our students, teachers, and families — especially Mr. Coyle and Mr. Mann for leading and organizing the event — for making this year’s International Festival such a memorable experience. It was wonderful to see so many parents come out and thoroughly enjoy the festival. We are incredibly proud of our young GIS Cougars for all of their hard work and enthusiasm throughout the day. 🌏✨

Our GIS Middle School students turned recyclable materials into something truly special! From decorated bottles and piggy banks to solar ovens, newspaper bags, paper flowers and more, every piece was planned, assembled, and decorated by the students themselves.

This project was a reminder that creativity and care for our environment go hand in hand. 🌱

⚽ SKAC 7-A-Side Soccer Tournament

Last Saturday, our GIS Middle and High School students traveled to Jeonju to compete in the SKAC 7v7 Soccer Tournament against schools from across Korea. 🐾

Our Cougars competed hard in intense matches under the blazing sun, giving everything they had on the field. But what made us most proud wasn't just the competition — it was the character our students showed throughout the day.

GIS was voted the Fair Play Award — Sportsmanship Team of the tournament by the other competing schools. 🏅

At GIS, how you play matters just as much as the final score. Our students proved that. Well done Cougars, we are so proud of you! 💙

🎓 특강 | Global Education: Importance & Future

Gwangju International School recently hosted a free public lecture featuring Professor Jeong, Managing Partner at Andersen Consulting, on the topic of "글로벌 교육의 중요성과 미래."

With an impressive background spanning BCG, Seoul National University, INSEAD MBA, and international business schools, Professor Jeong delivered an insightful and thought-provoking session that resonated deeply with everyone in attendance.

We were grateful to welcome current GIS families, alumni parents, and prospective families — and it was especially meaningful to hear our own GIS community speak about their experiences at our school. 💙

Events like these reflect our belief that global education doesn't just happen inside the classroom. It starts with the conversations we have together.

🏅 GIS Sports Day 2026!

Last Friday, our GIS community came together for a day full of competition, teamwork, and Cougar spirit! 🐾

From tug of war to volleyball to soccer, our students gave it their all. We also want to give a huge thank you to our GIS parents for the delicious food and desserts, and for joining in on the games themselves. Your participation, energy, and generosity made the day so much more memorable. 💙

GIS welcomed a representative from Arizona State University (ASU) to our campus! ASU reached out to us directly, making their way all the way to Gwangju to share everything their university has to offer with our Grade 8-12 students.

For our students, this was more than just a presentation. It was a glimpse into the possibilities that await them after GIS. From programs and campus life to global opportunities, our Cougars listened, asked questions, and got a firsthand look at what the future could hold. 💙
