12월 초, 학교에 하이브리드 가로등을 설치를 완료하였습니다. 이 가로등은 기상 조건에 대한 데이터를 제공하며, 태양 전지판과 풍력 발전기를 이용해서 가동됩니다.
We selected the installation position of the hybrid streetlight considering the power generation efficiency. The installation was completed in early December. The hybrid streetlight is designed to store the electric energy generated by two solar panels and wind generator during a day and to turn on the streetlight at night. The installed streetlight will provide data on weather conditions and generation efficiency.

원래, 과학체험교실에서는 사용하지 않는 공간이 있었는데요, 이제 그곳이 Green Energy Zone으로 재탄생 하였습니다. 밑에는 초등학생들이 압전소자와 소형 풍력 발전기를 이용해서 Green Energy에 대해서 체험하고 있는 사진입니다.
The ZFEP Research Group made a city producing electricity by wind-generators and solar panels using LEGO blocks. We will make generators of different types to turn on the lights in the buildings. We completed the construction of the renewable energy zone (‘Green Energy Zone’) in Scientists’ House. Many students have visited 'Green Energy Zone' and were interested in renewable energy.

드디어 옥상정원이 완공되었습니다! 1달간의 긴 공사과정을 걸쳐서 완성된 옥상정원, 앞으로 휴식공간으로 많이 애용해 주세요!! 그리고, 이번 주 내로 창조관 8층 복도 공사도 끝날 예정이라고 합니다!
We began the construction of roof garden in the middle of September and mostly completed until the end of November. And after construction of the green roof, we are remodeling the corridor connected to it. We expect the construction of green roof to be completed by early December.

저희 자이드 연구회에서는 저녁시간을 이용해서 식당 앞에서 에너지 절약을 위한 캠페인을 진행하였습니다. 직접 만든 에너지 절약을 위한 수칙이 들어있는 팜플렛을 나누어 주면서 진행하였는데요, 학생들이 직접 포스트잇에 에너지 절약을 위해 다양한 아이디어를 제공하였습니다.
Recently in KSA, the problem of energy waste caused by forgetting to turn off the lights or fans in empty dormitory rooms and classrooms has been issued. This is a very simple problem which can be easily solved by just pushing a switch or pulling a plug. So, Zayed Reseach Group campaigned to save energy in KSA on 10th October. Many students participated in this campaign and promised to make an effort to save energy.

자이드 연구회는 태양광 패널의 최종적인 디자인을 결정하고 8월 10일에 탐구관 옥상에 태양광 패널의 설치를 시작했습니다!!!. 더운 여름임에도 약 2주 동안 태양광 패널의 설치작업이 이루어졌습니다. 그리고 태양광 패널에 부착할 자이드 미래에너지상 프로젝트를 소개하는 현판(signboard)을 석효빈 학생이 직접 디자인하였답니다>< 이 현판은 태양광 패널의 설치가 완료된 후 태양광 패널에 부착되었습니다. 그리고 지난 8월, 저희 연구회는 탐구관 옥상에 10kWh 규모의 태양광 패널 설치를 완료하였습니다. 그리고 8월 30일, 공식적으로 태양광 패널의 현판식을 개최하였습니다. 교장선생님을 비롯한 다수의 교사와 학생들이 참가하였습니다. 현재 태양광 패널은 하루 평균 8~9kWh의 전기를 생산하고 있다고 합니다ㅎㅎ

We made a decision for the final design of solar panels, and it’s been installed at Tamgu building roof since August 10th. Even though the weather was hot, installation work was held for about 2 weeks. Student Hyobin Seok designed the signboard that is attached to the solar panel, which is made for the introduction of Zaid Future Energy Prize Project. This signboard was attached after the installation was finished. Last August, we finished the installation of the solar panel which is capable of producing 10kWh, at the rooftop of Tamgu building. And at August 30th, we officially held an opening ceremony for the solar panel. Many teachers, including the principle teacher, and students had attended. The solar panel is now producing 8~9kWh of electricity on average per day.

과학체험교실에서는 초등학생들과 중학생들을 대상으로 다양한 과학체험을 할 수 있도록 해서, 학생들이 과학에 대해서 흥미를 가질 수 있도록 합니다. 자이드 팀은 과학체험교실에서, 신재생 에너지와 에너지 절약에 관련된 장소를 마련했습니다. 저희는 체험에 사용할 레고 세트와 LED를 구입했고, 레고를 이용해서 만든 도시 모형에 LED를 부착했습니다. 그리고, 태양광 패널과 3D프린터를 이용해서 직접 제작한 풍력발전기를 이용해서 LED를 켜질 수 있도록 했습니다!

At the Scientists’ House, we enable students to get interested in science by providing diverse kinds of science activities. We added a section related with renewable energy and energy-saving in the scientists’ house. We bought Lego sets and LED that would be used for the activities, and we made a model of a city using these Legos. We also connected it to a solar panel so it could go around automatically using the solar energy. In the case of other buildings with LEDs, we connected its electrical system to a wind turbine made using the 3D printer.

드디어 한국과학영재학교 창조관 옥상공원이 생깁니다! 자이드 연구회에서 추진하고 있는 프로젝트 중 하나인 옥상공원은 선생님들의 도움을 받아 디자인이 완성되었습니다. 디자인 컨셉은 사람과 과학을 이어주는 연결고리로, 우리의 태양계, 원자모형, 전자 회로 등을 모티브로 하였으며, 옥상공원이 학생들과 교직원들의 휴식공간의 제공과 자연 체험의 기능 등 해줄 것을 기대하고 있습니다. 세부적인 도면과 계획안을 업로드 하였으니 많은 관심 부탁드립니다.

Finally, we are making a green roof on the Chang-jo building in KSA! Zayed research team has been working on this project since last year and thanks to our teachers, it is taken into action. The concept of the design is the “Connection between Humanity and Science” and we used our solar system, atomic model, and electric circuit as motives. We expect that our green roof will not only provide a rest area for students and faculties but also let us feel the nature inside the school. More detailed information are uploaded below.

- 위 기간동안 하늘정원 사용 불가

위 기간동안 하늘정원 사용이 불가합니다.
에너지 절감과 함께 편안한 휴식공간이 마련될 수 있도록 학생들의 많은 관심과 협조 바랍니다.

KSASF(Korea Science Academy Science Fair)는 매년 8월 외부 학생들을 학교로 초대해 열리는 과학 축전으로 올해에는 전국 각지에서 초등학생과 중학생이 모여 환경과 에너지를 주제로 다양한 활동을 했습니다. 이 중에서도 자이드 미래에너지 팀에서는 초등부의 주제탐구 활동을 맡아 진행했는데요, 축제에 참가한 초등학생들과 함께 태양광으로 충전하는 LED 전구와 자동차를 만들어 경주도 했답니다! ><
KSASF(Korea Science Academy Science Fair) is science fair held in KSA. Every year, many students who are interested in science participate KSASF, researching and sharing their results together. The main theme of KSASF 2016, held in August 8 to 11, was “Environment and Energy”, and many programs related to this theme were done. Among them, Zayed Future Energy Prize team took charge of one of the inquiry projects. With elementary students, we made lamps and cars using solar panels.

대기전력 측정 프로젝트

자이드 연구회의 1학기 프로젝트 중 하나였던 대기전력 측정 및 절감 프로젝트에 대해서 소개해 드리겠습니다! 우선 대기전력에 대해서 간단히 소개드리자면, 대기전력은 전자제품의 전원이 꺼진 상태에서 콘센트에 꽂아 두기만 했을 때에도 소모되는 전력을 말합니다. 우리 학교처럼 실험실과 기숙사와 같은 시설이 많은 경우에는 대기전력이 더 많을 것으로 예상할 수 있겠죠. 따라서 올해 상반기 자이드 연구회에서는 우리학교의 대기전력을 측정하고자 많은 노력을 기울여왔습니다. 대기전력 측정이 현재는 어느정도 완료된 상태이며, 현재 추가 자료 수집 및 데이터 정리 작업에 도입한 상태입니다.><

Standby-power measuring project

One of the major goals of KSA ZFEP Research Society is to measure the standby power of the school and to eliminate them. Standby power, also called leaking electricity, refers to the electric power consumed by electronic and electrical appliances while they are switched off or in a standby mode. Since KSA is expected to have a lot of standby power (for being a boarding school with high-tech laboratories) we have tried to locate the source of standby power and eliminate them.
