Busan Foreign School An international school with a US based curriculum operating in Busan, South Korea. We are a small school and pride ourselves on that fact.

We truly believe in getting to know each student from prekindergarten 3 all the way to grade 12. We offer a rigorous course load at the high school level including AP courses. In the elementary level we have made a concerted effort to focus on literacy comprehension to ensure our students are equipped with the necessary communication skills to be successful learners.

Moving can be a challenging transition for students, but the Anchored4Life Leadership Club is here to help!

Sponsored by the U.S. Navy, the A4L program provides training to Grade 4-5 Club Leaders to support classmates as they prepare for a move. Throughout the year, A4L Club members support their classmates as they depart from BFS by sharing helpful resources on staying connected with old friends, making new ones, and becoming part of a new community.

We are grateful for our A4L Club Team Leaders and their dedication to supporting their peers. We wish our departing students all the best as they settle into their new homes. We'll miss you! 💙🦈

Let the games begin!

During the last week of school, the High School and Middle School Student Councils organized an afternoon of fun, teamwork, and friendly competition with the Shark Games.

Mixed teams of middle school students, high school students, and teachers competed in classic events including the five-legged race, tug of war, flag tag, egg-and-spoon race, and the fan-favorite Sharks and Minnows.

Keeping with the Shark Games theme, each team represented a different shark: Tiger Shark in black, Leopard Shark in white, Zebra Shark in gray, and Bull Shark in blue.

With perfect weather, plenty of laughs, and great school spirit, it was a memorable way to end the year together.

Coming Full Circle: BFS High School Graduation 2026

Things came full circle at this year’s BFS High School Graduation as we celebrated our 23rd high school commencement.

The Class of 2026 is now preparing for the next chapter of their lives at universities in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia.

The ceremony featured keynote remarks from U.S. Consul Dewey Moore, along with speeches from Joy C., our valedictorian, and Sasha P., our salutatorian. Guests were also treated to a special student-led performance of “Waka Waka” — the same dance many of these graduates performed during their Grade 5 Moving On Ceremony.

It was a perfect full-circle moment.

There were hugs, handshakes, tears, and plenty of photos as families, faculty, and friends gathered to celebrate this outstanding class.

Congratulations, BFS Class of 2026. We are proud of you, and we cannot wait to see where your next chapter takes you.

Back-to-back-to-back Moving On Ceremonies made for a special Friday at BFS as we celebrated important milestones for our Kindergarten, Grade 5, and Grade 8 students.

Moving up to Grade 1, Middle School, or High School is a meaningful step in a student’s journey — and one worth celebrating. We were proud to share these moments with families, loved ones, teachers, and our caring BFS community.

Congratulations to all of our students as they move forward with confidence, pride, and excitement for what comes next.

It was an all-hands-on-deck badminton day for the Sharks, with Elementary, Middle School, and High School athletes competing and representing BFS with pride.

Our Elementary Sharks had a fin-tastic day, led by Ari D., who earned an impressive 1st place finish in ES Mixed Singles after a hard-fought three-set match. In ES Mixed Doubles, Ari D. and Ryan R. also took 1st place in two sets.

A big shoutout also goes to Eileen C. and Sasha T. for finishing 4th in Doubles. The BFS Elementary team was recognized with a team award for earning the most points in their division — a wonderful reflection of their Hard Working spirit.

On the MS/HS side of the bracket, our Shark athletes gave it everything they had, battling through a full day of competition with determination, resilience, and heart. Despite some tough losses and several hard-fought 4th-place finishes, our Sharks never stopped believing in each other — and that perseverance paid off with an incredible showing in doubles competition.

Congratulations to all of our Shark athletes for representing BFS with sportsmanship and pride.

Water-n-Fun Day at BFS!

From Early Childhood through Grade 2, our students celebrated the end of the year with the annual BFS Water-n-Fun Day!

The weather could not have been better for a day full of slipping, sliding, splashing, and laughing. Students raced down slides, played in pools, slid across the grass, and enjoyed one last outdoor celebration before the final day of school tomorrow.

What a terrific way to close out the year — great times, big smiles, and wonderful memories.

Throughout May, our Grade 2 readers celebrated Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month by exploring picture books by AANHPI authors and illustrators.

Students selected books, read them together, and learned more about each author or illustrator and their family heritage. They then became young book promoters, creating posters to share why others should read their chosen books.

Through this project, students discovered how stories can reflect the richness, creativity, and diversity of the AANHPI community — while also building reading, research, and communication skills.

Moving from elementary to middle school — and from middle school to high school — are important milestones in a student’s learning journey. At BFS, we believe these transitions deserve care, preparation, and support.

This week, our Grade 5 Sharks had a firsthand look at what middle school will be like. Students heard from several middle school teachers about expectations, routines, and how to prepare for the increased independence of Grade 6. They also practiced a mock middle school day, moving around the building to different subject-area teachers — just like they will next year.

At the same time, our Grade 8 students began preparing for their own next chapter. Grade 10 students shared their experiences and insights about high school life, offering practical advice, answering questions, and helping younger students understand what to expect as they make the transition to high school.

As a small school, BFS is able to personalize important transitions like these. By giving students opportunities to ask questions, connect with older peers and teachers, practice new routines, and gain a clearer understanding of what comes next, we help build confidence for the exciting opportunities ahead.
