We as a society have done ourselves a disservice by worshipping youth, fighting aging, and denying the fact that we are growing older.

Being a human means that we all grow older. We all age.

This is a good thing. This is a wonderful thing. It means that we are growing and changing and learning, and we have earned every single wrinkle with our smiles, our frowns, our tears and our excitement.

Now every emotion we felt has permanently etched a place on our faces. Would we deny ourselves of all emotion? Would we deny the chance to grow? Would we deny being a human, and having these experiences that teach us, and help us to grow?

I celebrate aging. I celebrate the afternoon of life. It is all part of God’s plan for us. How grateful I am to have lived the morning and noon of life and to now be enjoying the afternoon of life!

Let’s create a pro-aging movement!

We can do ourselves a huge favor by choosing to embrace the changes in our bodies, and in our faces. We can feel peace and joy by accepting what is, and what is to come.

We can increase our faith, love, joy and hope. We can remain flexible and able to roll with the punches. We can keep learning and doing new things. We can choose happiness in spite of losses.

We can thrive in the afternoon of life.

We are discussing this book in our book club tonight. Has anyone read it? What are your thoughts on it?

I loved all her descriptions of Korean food! He descriptions of the events surrounding her mother’s death were poignant and I cried. A lot. I did not care for the expletives, however. Sadly, that made it so I cannot whole heartedly recommend this book. Does foul language like that bother anyone else?

Perspective and the thoughts we choose make all the difference in how we feel. I can choose to worry or have hope, be discouraged, or keep trying, be fearful or faithful. There are lots of things we can not control, but that one thing, our ability to choose our thoughts and control our feelings, makes all the difference!

The black filing cabinet is the answer to your mental health!

Let me explain:

We have had this 5 drawer beast, nearly as tall as me, for years, even hauled it to Korea with us. The black hole contains all documents vital to us as well as some trivial things we decided to keep.

For a few years I just stuck things in it with very little rhyme or reason.

It holds precious family photos and memories from all of my life and before I was born. It has programs from old plays, concerts and funerals.

This black dumping ground has been in the back of my mind as a nuisance and something I will get to eventually.

Well, over the past few day, I have gone through every scrap, every ticket, magazine, etc and given it a label, a number, and a home where I can easily find it.

What a freeing and empowering feeling!! To organize and take control of the spaces in our homes can generate joy!

After returning home from a trip I always feel a bit blue. Maybe the number of tasks are increased and I am suffering from jet lag.

Who would have guessed that a big black box can lift feelings of depression and chase the blues away!!
