Qu'est-ce que tu aimes faire?

Rooms 203-204 French

Created at

WHAT WE DID (Rooms 203-204 French)

Topic: Qu’est-ce que tu aimes faire ?

Students were introduced to saying they like doing something, "aimer + verb in the infinitive" as well as they like something "aimer + noun"

a quick revision of conjugating the verb "aimer" in the present tense...AWESOME JOB!

a quick exercise on identifying nouns was given

a. les jeux vidéo
b. les bandes dessinées
c. aller à la pêche
d. regarder la télé
Exemple 1: J'aime Paris - I love Paris
Exemple 2 : Il aime les chats - He likes cats
Exemple 3 : Aimes-tu voyager ? Do you like to travel?

students created two columns where they were tasked in grouping each sentence to reflect if it was "aimer + noun" or "aimer + verb"

e. J’aime le skate
f. J’aime faire de la natation
g. Elle aime les animaux
h. Il aime jouer l’ordinateur
i. Tu aimes la musique ?
j. Nous aimons retrouver des amis.

NOTE: To say that you "like" or "are fond of" someone, qualify "aimer" with an adverb like:

• assez
• bien
• beaucoup

These adverbs make aimer less strong, so that it can be used with friends rather than family and lovers.

1. J'aime assez Paul.
I kind of like Paul.

2. J'aime bien Ana.
I like Ana.

3. J'aime beaucoup Étienne.
I really like Étienne.

4. Je t'aime bien.
I like you.

Bonne Chance!
