The Nature of Thai Armed Forces

Today marks the 19th consecutive day of Thailand’s planned invasion of Cambodia. During this period, Thai armed forces have destroyed civilian infrastructure and caused the deaths of innocent people.

Thai military units, using tanks and armored vehicles alongside infantry, entered several locations inside Cambodian territory, destroying and seizing villagers’ property. Reports state that Thai forces took motorbikes, furniture, two-wheel tractors, bicycles, and other items.
Not only have they destroyed property and killed civilians, but they have also reportedly appropriated villagers’ belongings. Such actions violate international law and raise serious concerns about military discipline, ethics, and respect for human rights.

Since the beginning of the conflict, the Thai armed forces have deployed heavy weaponry, including F-16 and T-50TH fighter jets, to launch airstrikes up to 90 km inside Cambodian airspace. These attacks have damaged houses, schools, ancient temples, pagodas, bridges, and populated areas. At least 30 people have been killed, with many more injured, and more than half a million villagers have been forced to flee their homes.

These actions have been regarded as brutal, aggressive, and immoral since the start of hostilities on 7 December 2025. Thailand appears unwilling to cease its attacks, despite the Joint Declaration of Peace signed in Malaysia on 26 July 2025, and continues to violate international law.
