🖐️ Why We Play with Clay: Sensory Learning & Storytelling at the Pond (中文看底下）

In our Nature Play Junior sessions, the forest isn't just a backdrop—it’s our primary learning material. Today at Daan Forest Park, a simple lump of clay became a powerful tool for fine motor development and emotional literacy.

🧠 The Learning Behind the Play:
Tactile Engineering: As the children pressed clay into the rough textures of tree bark, they were strengthening their finger muscles and exploring physics—learning exactly how much pressure is needed to make something stick!

Narrative Development: When a child tells me a tree is "sad because the squirrels are jumping too much," they are practicing perspective-taking and empathy. Turning a natural object into a character is a sophisticated cognitive leap.

Literacy in the Wild: Molding names out of clay transforms abstract letters into a 3D sensory experience, making literacy feel grounded and meaningful.

🐢 Observation as Science
Watching the baby turtles sunning themselves helps children develop sustained attention and quiet focus—skills that are often hard to find in a fast-paced world. We wrapped up our discovery just as the rain began, a perfect reminder of nature's rhythm!

Nature Play Junior is all about child-led, teacher-supported outdoor play. When we slow down and follow children’s interests, we see creativity, patience, focus, and confidence naturally emerge.

What a day at Da’an Park! 🐰✨
We had the best time celebrating Easter together. From shaking up rice and food coloring to make our own vibrant eggs to settling in for story time, the energy was amazing. The kids brought so much spirit to the Easter egg hunt, wreath making, and egg spoon races!

We practiced beginning and ending sounds in a way that met each child right where they are ✨

Little learners focused on identifying beginning sounds and matching letters, while older learners leveled up by blending beginning + ending sounds to build simple CVC words.
