Our local villagers assisted us on December 9, 2017.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who dedicated their time and efforts to help set up the school. Special thanks to the villagers who worked hard to improve the bathroom, install a water container, and connect running water to the school.
We had a public WC accessible to everyone passing by, especially international travelers and adventurers, providing a convenient short break. Your support was crucial in starting our free English classes for children. This achievement highlights our community collaboration and shared success. Much love.

We are ROOTS Learning Center. We sincerely appreciate our former students who studied with us and are now attending university in Phnom Penh, especially when they visit home during the water festival in Siem Reap. They take the opportunity to share their experiences and support our current students, for which we are truly grateful.
Srey Ngan will graduate in two years, and Kimsuo, who just started their first year, is also studying in Phnom Penh. Their presentation day was this morning, on November 4th, 2025.
Srey Ngan's topic was "Students with Education, Uneducated," for sharing! Kimsuo talked about “How to Learn Effectively and Get Grade A." The goals of this activity are:
• To encourage adults to recognize the importance of education.
• To demonstrate how education can transform lives and open opportunities.
• To share personal experiences and motivate others to value knowledge.
• To help participants develop confidence and communication skills.
We really appreciate their sharing and continue to help their friends at our school center.!

From Sarou, founder of Roots Community
“My mother and other women will empower and harness transferable skills and preserve our local heritage by creating a workshop space..!
Palm leaves, brusker , and souvenirs have been lost in my villages for many years... I never forget when I was so young, my grandmother, father, and other locals in the villages... They got up early in the morning, they wove at home before their work with rice fields even before they went out.
Now, my mother with her expertise, along with other women, will transfer their skills to our children in the village.”
Our rice plants are taller and more abundant, ready for harvest later this month.
We are excited to share our local way of life through rice cultivation, with students and teachers from Ivanhoe Grammar School joining locals to exchange experiences in July 2025.

Thank you to my friends from England… Their generosity and willingness to help, seeing our children get better education for a brighter future…
All the books were shipped from England by HDL Express and just arrived in Siem Reap..!
We don't have many words and can never thank them enough for their concern for rural children's education… As I truly understand the purpose!

We truly appreciate your generosity!
On October 10th, 2025, two generous individuals and their team visited our school to meet with underprivileged students and support their education with computers and English classes, as well as at a public school in subjects like Khmer, Math, Physics, and Chemistry.
That day at Roots, students enjoyed a big dinner, some drinks, and received two new bikes—one for the top student and one for a less fortunate student. They also received a large box of books, rulers, and pencils for the upcoming school year.

Mr. Sarou led the meeting this evening as we discussed our future and how our school can better support our students.
During the meeting, we reviewed everyone's duties and responsibilities to help each other:
- Sarou, founder and director
- Three current teachers
- Mr. Ponleu, teacher supervisor
- 10 volunteers assisting with teaching, cleaning, library tasks, and checklists, among other things.
We support each other for our growth!
