Our Story
The Building Future Opportunities Kbalromeas (pronounced as Ke-bal-ro-meas) school started in February 2014 providing education to under-privileged children in the Toek Vill community.
The school was constructed solely from donations and is staffed by volunteer trainee teachers.
BFOK is non-profit and does not receive any government or NGO assistance.
To cover only the most basic costs, families pay only 50 cents per month for the first year, after which schooling is provided free.
We currently have nearly 400 children enrolled & the curriculum includes:
English Skills
Personal Hygiene
Arts & Crafts
Sports
Building a Clean Future (Gardening & Recycling)
Computer Skills
Students aged 6 to 18 are welcome to study English 5 hours a week with both the volunteer teacher trainees and native English speakers from around the world. This level of exposure results in their achieving English levels well above those of students in Khmer public schools where students only have 1 hour of English per week.
