Our Bambujaya library aims to foster a lifelong love of learning by providing children with meaningful resources that enable them to explore and develop personal interests within the context of their Waldorf Education.

The joy and excitement that lives in children while making objects out of wood - such a simple material and such an ancient way of making things - is a wonder to see.

Our young learners become alive when saws, files, hammers and carving tools are in their hands. The energy is noticeable in the room.

Woodworking is an integral part of our Waldorf curriculum and very important for the development of a child’s sense for sculptural forms and for the realisation of their own ideas, such as constructing these raised planters ready for gardening.

While books are great, nothing teaches them skills like getting in there and trying it themselves.

From cooking and crafts to playing sports, the real lessons happen when they're problem-solving, making mistakes, and finding solutions through practice.

There are so many benefits to Waldorf handwork!
From a practical point-of-view handwork is a daily part of a Waldorf early childhood because it:
- Promotes capacities for thinking, measuring and visual perception
- Helps to develops fine motor skill
- Build the capacity to concentrate, focus and solve problems
- Develops patience and perseverance
- Awakens a child’s unique artistry through the creation process, choosing textures and colours

Teaching cooking is an opportunity for them to learn about planning meals and making smarter food choices.

By teaching basic cookery we also instil a respect for food and an understanding of where food comes from, developing their responsibility.

During their study of ancient civilisations, the children visited Angkor Wat to discover the ancient Hindu stories told on the carved bas reliefs.

Perhaps the most important narrative represented at Angkor Wat is the ‘Churning of the Ocean of Milk’, which depicts a story about the beginning of time and the creation of the universe.
