Panha Sabay

Einde van het jaar en het einde van de actie. Het is een mooie actie geweest met een prachtig resultaat. De komende tijd gaan we heel veel Scrumbles verstrekken aan schooltjes, NGO’s, bibliotheken, etc. De productie is nog in volle gang.

We zullen de plekken selecteren waar we veel kinderen kunnen bereiken, plekken die het zich normaal gesproken niet kunnen permiteren om Scrumble aan te schaffen. En we zullen zorgen dat de leerkrachten, assistenten en bibliotheek werknemers, weten wat je “allemaal” kunt doen met dit ogenschijnlijk zo simpele spelletje.

En tot slot is het ook leuk om opnieuw te melden dat we met deze actie heel veel afgedankte waterflesjes een nieuwe leerzame bestemming (gaan) geven.

We hebben al een mooi begin gemaakt in de eerste week van onze eindejaarsactie, maar we gaan nog even door. We vragen je ons te helpen Scrumble te doneren aan locale schooltjes en NGO’s die Engels geven aan kinderen. Met Scrumble kun je oneindig veel leuke educatieve spelletjes spelen.

Wat is Scrumble?
Scrumble is een spelletje met 8 letterblokjes. 3 van de blokjes geven je een klinker; de overige 5 blokjes hebben medeklinkers. De klinkers hebben een andere tint waardoor de spel- en leermogelijkheden nog groter worden. Iedere letter heeft ook een waarde, waardoor je een scrabble versie kunt spelen. Maar de letters werken ook als letterkaarten en daarmee kun je ook heel veel leuke activiteiten doen.

Als jullie de spelletjes kopen, zorgen wij ervoor dat de leerkrachten leren om volop gebruik te maken van alle mogelijkheden die Scrumble biedt. En zo snijdt het mes aan nog een zijde, want leerkrachten zijn hier nog niet zo bekend met spelactiviteiten in de klas.

Scrumble kost 7 dollar/euro, tegenwoordig is het verschil tussen de dollar en euro minimaal helaas. Stuur me een berichtje en ik vertel je hoe je mee kunt doen.

En oh ja! Vergeet niet dat we deze blokjes van oude waterflesjes maken? Dus we ruimen ook nog de nodige rotzooi op.

A very useful Sunday morning at Sunshine school. Teaching these volunteer teachers to learn through play.

It's finished! What an amazing assignment it was to write and implement an afterschool lesson program for primary school kids in Mondulkiri. In the coming 2 years they will learn all about the world around them, especially nature and wildlife, ways to protect it including ways and knowledge from their own heritage (Bunong culture).

For us, every day is Recycling Day.

Chikara Cambodia collects plastic bottles at primary schools in communities around Siem Reap. These bottles are then given to Panha Sabay, where the plastic bottles are recycled into educational toys.

En dan komen er vrienden uit Nederland over met een enorme berg kleurrijke sokken. Dat worden straks allemaal leuke sok popjes.
Dank je wel Lucienne, Henk en Thomas ook voor al die andere mooie spullen die jullie mee hebben gebracht.

Update Decemberactie 2023: De laatste baby-slaap-vriendjes zijn inmiddels aan hun wereldreis begonnen (van Cambodja, via Nederland, naar Ethiopie) en inmiddels is de eerste lading in Ethiopie verspreid. Een actie met heel veel blije gezichten en gezichtjes als resultaat.

De "bijvangst" van de eindejaarsactie van afgelopen jaar was, dat er ook een aantal vrienden van die leuke baby-slaap-vriendjes hebben besteld zodat ze altijd een leuk, origineel en verantwoord baby cadeautje in huis hadden.
Dat verzoek is geevolueerd in een leuk zakje (natuurlijk van restmateriaal) met daarin 5 verschillende Dai Tauch (wat betekent kleine handjes).
We kunnen geen grote hoeveelheden aan en ook geen beloftes doen over snelle levering (binnen 9 maanden lukt wel altijd;)) want ze komen met vrienden mee naar Nederland, maar natuurlijk maak je ons blij als je zo'n zakje besteld.

Looking back on 2023:

It was a good year. Slowly we left the misery of Covid behind us.
We created a big number of pretty nice products: Lok Lak (the biggest cube so far), Rueng (a story telling game), Sambok (a nest of boxes), Boh Thong (toss bags), Bay Leng Bunny (the sock doll designed for the year of the rabbit) and my personal favorite: Dai Tauch (babies sleeping buddy).

We also focused more and more on trainings and improvement projects. We did some very interesting projects at NGO’s in international and public schools, some of them are still ongoing.

There were also very nice developments in our staff. Chhoun and Neen both gave birth to the cutest baby girls ever, Chorn successfully finished his IT study and found a good job and SamOun started working for Panha Sabay in June. We had 2 amazing volunteers. Bunsieng helped us for a month in his school holiday and Veronie was with us for 3 months helping with our new website. And that website is now visible for everyone www.panhasabay.com

Al and al we can look back on a creative, busy and exciting year. It makes us look forward to 2024.

Today I had to say goodbye to Veronie. She has done an amazing job with building our new website. I have enjoyed your enthusiasm, your interest, your knowledge and most of all your friendship. I wish you a very nice and well deserved holiday in Thailand. Orkun Thom Thom.❤️
