នាពេលថ្មីៗនេះ ក្រុមអ្នកគ្រូពេទ្យព្យាបាលដោយចលនារបស់យើង បានចូលរួមផ្លាស់ប្តូរការសិក្សាជាមួយអង្គការកុមារក្នុងគ្រួសារ (CIF) នៅខេត្តកំពង់ឆ្នាំង។ ក្នុងអំឡុងពេលទស្សនកិច្ចនេះ គាត់បានសិក្សាអំពីការស្តារតាមសហគមន៍ (Community-Based Rehabilitation – CBR) ជួយការគាំទ្រដល់អ្នកថែទាំ ប្រព័ន្ធបញ្ជូនបន្តទៅកាន់សេវាឯកទេស និងការប្រើប្រាស់ឧបករណ៍ជំនួយដែលផលិតពីសម្ភារៈក្នុងស្រុកប្រកបដោយភាពច្នៃប្រឌិត ដើម្បីជួយកុមារឱ្យមានភាពឯករាជ្យកាន់តែប្រសើរ។

At Safe Haven, we believe that sharing knowledge helps us provide even better support for children with disabilities and their families.

Recently, one of our physiotherapists took part in a learning exchange with Children In Families (CIF) in Kampong Chhnang. During the visit, they learned about community-based rehabilitation, supporting caregivers, referral pathways to specialised services, and creative, locally made assistive equipment that helps children become more independent.

Back at Safe Haven, these insights were shared with our Physiotherapy Team, encouraging discussions about new ideas, practical solutions, and ways we can continue strengthening our outreach services.

A big thank you to CIF for welcoming our team and generously sharing your knowledge and experience. By learning from one another, we can continue improving the care, opportunities, and quality of life for children with disabilities across Cambodia. 💙

តាមរយៈការចុះសួរសុខទុក្ខ និងផ្តល់សេវាព្យាបាលដោយចលនានៅតាមផ្ទះជាប្រចាំ បច្ចុប្បន្ននេះនាងអាចធ្វើចលនាក្បាលបាន និងអាចទ្រទ្រង់ខ្លួនឯងបានក្នុងរយៈពេលខ្លី។ លើសពីនេះ នាងក៏បានចាប់ផ្តើមនិយាយពាក្យដំបូងៗរបស់នាងផងដែរ ដោយបច្ចុប្បន្នអាចនិយាយបានចំនួន ៤ ពាក្យ គឺ៖ «ម៉ាក់» «ប៉ា» «ទឹក» និង «បង»។
រាល់ពាក្យដែលនាងអាចនិយាយបាន គឺជាជំហានដ៏សំខាន់មួយ។ រាល់ចលនាតូចៗដែលនាងអាចធ្វើបាន គឺជាភាពជោគជ័យដ៏មានន័យ។

គ្រួសារចិញ្ចឹមរបស់នាងបានបន្តយកចិត្តទុកដាក់ថែទាំនាងដោយភាពស្មោះត្រង់ អនុវត្តលំហាត់ព្យាបាលជារៀងរាល់ថ្ងៃ អបអរសាទររាល់ភាពរីកចម្រើន និងខិតខំធានាថា នាងទទួលបានគ្រប់ឱកាសដើម្បីអភិវឌ្ឍសក្តានុពលរបស់នាង។

ផ្នែកមួយនៃការគាំទ្របែបគ្រប់ជ្រុងជ្រោយរបស់សេហ្វហេវិន ក៏បានផ្តល់កៅអីបង្គន់ពិសេសមួយ ដើម្បីជួយឱ្យការថែទាំប្រចាំថ្ងៃមានសុវត្ថិភាព កាន់តែងាយស្រួល មានផាសុកភាព និងលើកកម្ពស់ភាពឯករាជ្យ ព្រមទាំងរក្សាបាននូវសេចក្តីថ្លៃថ្នូររបស់នាង។

រឿងរ៉ាវរបស់នាង គឺជាការនឹករំលឹកដ៏មានអត្ថន័យមួយថា អនាគតរបស់កុមារមិនត្រូវបានកំណត់ដោយការធ្វើរោគវិនិច្ឆ័យ ឬដោយកាលៈទេសៈដែលពួកគេបានកើតមកនោះទេ។ នៅពេលកុមារទទួលបានក្តីស្រឡាញ់ ការគាំទ្រផ្នែកព្យាបាល និងការយកចិត្តទុកដាក់ពីអ្នកថែទាំដែលមិនបោះបង់ក្តីសង្ឃឹម ពួកគេអាចសម្រេចបាននូវអ្វីៗដែលលើសពីការរំពឹងទុករបស់មនុស្សជាច្រើន។

Abandoned at a very young age, this little girl has spent the past four years with an incredible foster family who love her as if she were their own. Their unwavering commitment, patience, and love have given her the chance to flourish.

When she first came into our care, her family was told she would never be able to lift her head or communicate. Today, she is proving that predictions don't always define a child's future.

Through regular physiotherapy home visits, she is now lifting her head and supporting herself for short periods of time. She has also found her voice, with four precious words now in her vocabulary: Mak (Mum), Pa (Dad), Water, and Brother.

Every one of those words is a milestone. Every small movement is a victory.
Her foster family are dedicated to her care, faithfully practising her therapy every day, celebrating every achievement, and ensuring she has every opportunity to reach her potential.

As part of our holistic support, Safe Haven also provided a toilet chair to make daily care safer, more comfortable, and to encourage greater independence and dignity.
Stories like hers remind us that a child's future is not defined by their diagnosis or the circumstances they were born into. When children are surrounded by love, given access to therapy, and supported by caregivers who never give up, they can achieve far more than anyone imagined.

Recently our Intervention Team held a very special cooking class, for the first time, with an amazing group of children and their families.
Together, they peeled, chopped, stirred, cooked, and of course, enjoyed sharing the meal they had made together. 🍽️

Cooking is so much more than preparing food. It is a valuable life skill that helps children develop fine motor skills, communication, problem-solving, confidence, and independence. Just as importantly, cooking together creates opportunities for inclusion, teamwork, and meaningful family connections.

Every child participated in their own way—whether it was peeling vegetables, cutting ingredients, cracking eggs, stirring the pan, or helping serve lunch. Seeing the pride on their faces as they enjoyed a meal they had helped create was something truly special.

At Safe Haven, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn the skills that will help them lead more independent and fulfilling lives. Sometimes, the greatest lessons happen around a simple meal shared together. 💙

I love providing education to families in the community and helping parents better understand and care for their children with disabilities. It's especially rewarding to teach parents how to use play therapy and everyday activities to support their child's development.

From lying down all day to sitting up and enjoying the world around him. 💙

This little boy used to spend all day in the same position, which caused painful pressure sores.

With support from our nurse and physiotherapist, his family learned the importance of good positioning, regular movement, and how to care for his pressure sores. Little by little, his sores healed, his comfort improved, and now he can sit up and enjoy looking around, playing, and smiling.

Just look at that smile! 😊

Physiotherapy is about so much more than movement. It helps children with disabilities stay healthy, prevent complications, and experience more of the world around them.

Every small step makes a big difference.

What do you love most about your job?
Seeing children with disabilities make progress in their development—whether it's saying new words, becoming more mobile, or reaching milestones that once seemed impossible.

What keeps you motivated?
Watching families grow stronger and more confident. Seeing children receive the care, education, nutrition, and opportunities they deserve, while parents build better relationships, learn new skills, and create brighter futures for their families. The supportive team environment and opportunities to continue learning also inspire me every day.

What success looks like for you?
When families trust me, feel comfortable sharing their challenges, and tell me they are seeing positive changes in their lives. Success also means connecting families with the services they need—from education and healthcare to disability services, livelihood support, housing, and government assistance.

Our Outreach Van—the vehicle that brought healthcare, therapy, and hope to children with disabilities living in rural Cambodia—was destroyed in a devastating fire. Our truck was also badly damaged and is out of action.

In a single night, we lost so much more than vehicles. We lost the equipment that allowed us to reach children who cannot travel to us, families living in remote villages, and those who depend on our outreach teams for essential care. We lost equipment inside the van and truck, tools and items that assist the work we do.

If you're in Australia, the end of the financial year is a wonderful opportunity to make a tax-deductible donation through RAWCS - Rotary Australia World Community Service that will help us replace the vital equipment and supplies lost in the fire.
