The words "used to" and "be used to" are often confused, but they have different meanings and uses in English grammar.

Used to is a verb that is used to talk about habits, states, or facts that were true in the past but are not true now. It is always followed by the infinitive of the main verb. For example:

I used to live in New York.
She used to be a doctor.
We used to go swimming every weekend.
Be used to is an adjective that means "to be familiar with" or "to be accustomed to." It is followed by a noun or a gerund. For example:

I am used to the noise of the city.
He is not used to driving on the left side of the road.
We are getting used to our new house.
Get used to is a phrase that means "to become familiar with" or "to become accustomed to." It is followed by a noun or a gerund. For example:

It took me a while to get used to my new job.
They are getting used to living in a foreign country.
I'm sure you'll get used to the new traffic patterns soon.

How to teach vocabulary.

The most important thing is to choose activities that are engaging and fun for your students. When students are having fun, they are more likely to learn.

Here are tips for teaching vocabulary to ESL students:

1. Use visuals
Visuals can help students understand the meaning of new words. Use pictures, diagrams, and gestures to help explain new vocabulary.

2. Provide context
When introducing new words, provide context so that students can understand how the words are used. For example, you could give examples of how the word is used in a sentence or have students act out the meaning of the word.

3. Make it personal
Help students connect new words to their own experiences. Ask them to think of examples of times when they have used the word or to come up with their own definitions for the word.

4. Give opportunities for practice
Students need opportunities to practice using new vocabulary. Give them plenty of chances to use the words in speaking, listening, reading, and writing activities.

5. Be patient
Learning new vocabulary takes time. Don't expect students to memorize every word right away. Be patient and keep providing them with opportunities to practice.
