Hello to all travelers in South East Asia!
There is a new English School in Eastern Cambodia, created in October 1st, 2015.
Are you a foreigner in Cambodia? Can you speak a little bit of English? Do you want to share your culture and discover the real culture of Cambodia? Are you really motivated about all of this ?
Please consider helping this school. It is a great cause.
The School:
Right now, there are 7 different classes, divided into the 7 to 8 year-olds, the 10 to 11 year-olds, and the 12 to 15 year-olds.
We have only 1 Cambodian teacher. He is a volunteer. Class starts at 7am and finishes at 8pm. He works 5 days per week with the different age groups!
At the moment, the classroom is next to his house. We have already started building a proper School in the center of the village. If you want to help as builder, please let us know.
Mr Rith: The English Teacher
Mr. Rith is the creator of this school. He studied 3 years in Phnom Penh where he learned English. After a few months working in the capital, he decided to return to the countryside to teach English to the kids. In public school they don't learn any English.
He is giving everything to these children--his time, his own home, and his money. He is paying for the new school by himself.
Mr. Rith needs only one thing: He needs help from foreigners to assist with his class, to play with the kids, and to help build the new classroom. If you feel that you could do any of these things, please continue reading.
The Village: Sangke Bangve Village
Where is it?
In Angkor Chey District, on the main Road 126 (between Tany and the national 2 going to the Vietnam border).
Sangke Bangve Village is a very small fishing and farming village, approximatively 250 houses. Everybody knows each other and the people are very friendly. They are always keen to help you when they have free time. They will show you the rice fields, the lakes, and share everything about their lives. You will learn more about Cambodia here in 2 days than 1 month in the big tourist cities.
Where can I sleep?
If you have a tent or hammock it is easy to sleep in the village. If you prefer a hotel, there is a guest house in Tany (2km away). One room for 4 people is $7. You can eat there in the market for $1. But if you help in the school, people in the village will probably insist on inviting you to their table!
If you come here to help, I promise that you can easily live on $10 a day, sometimes less.
Still interested? Ok let's talk seriously...
What do we need exactly?
In the Class: We need you to assist Mr Rith.
NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED!
The kids will be so excited and so happy to speak English with a Traveler. If you have experience in teaching it is very good for us, but you actually don't need any qualifications to come help. Just reading the texts with the kids, playing with them, and sharing your culture is amazing to them! All we need are people who like spending time with children and are interested in helping make a difference in a small community.
If you are interested but are scared that you cannot do it... DON'T WORRY!
We must also build the new school in the Village. You can work as helper to build the classroom!
If you are traveling in a group and some prefer to work with kids while others prefer to work on the construction, it would be perfect!
Ok! So you plan to come in Cambodia and you want to help!
Write to us on this page, send us an email, or call Mr. Rith directly !
Thank you! Safe Travels!
Enjoy!
