On 21 July 2026, the Division of Research and Innovation of the Royal University of Agriculture (RUA) coordinated the monitoring and evaluation mission to review the current status and implementation progress of research investment and further-support projects under the Second Higher Education Improvement Project (HEIP2).
The meeting was attended by the Department of Research and Innovation of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, the Division of Research and Innovation of the Royal University of Agriculture, the Faculty of Fisheries and Aquaculture, and the Faculty of Forestry.
During the meeting, the project teams presented their implementation progress, performance indicators, challenges, and plans to ensure the sustainability and commercialization of research outputs, with a focus on:
🔹 Tilapia breeding, quality fingerling production, capacity building, private-sector partnerships, and market development
🔹 Conservation and propagation of native orchids and ornamental plants through tissue-culture techniques
🔹 Development of digital systems and registration of project activities in the PRMIS platform
The participants also discussed follow-up actions to strengthen project implementation, improve research and production indicators, promote commercialization, and ensure the sustainability of research activities at the university.
Following the meeting, the delegation visited the aquaculture farm of the Faculty of Fisheries and Aquaculture to observe and evaluate the actual progress of project implementation.
The Division of Research and Innovation of the Royal University of Agriculture remains committed to strengthening research governance, innovation, transparency, accountability, and the application of research results to contribute to agricultural development, food security, education, and private-sector partnerships in Cambodia.

Meet the deep-sea architects: Marine Sponge Reefs! Built over thousands of years by "glass sponges," these incredible reefs are made of biogenic silica, literally structures built from natural glass.

As new sponges grow on the skeletons of older ones, they engineer massive, complex reefs called bioherms. This creates a dense, three-dimensional network of caves, tunnels, and micro-habitats that act as ultimate nursery grounds and safe havens, massively boosting marine biodiversity!

ហេតុអ្វីបានជាគោលនយោបាយម៉ាក្រូសេដ្ឋកិច្ចល្អ មិនមែនជាលក្ខខណ្ឌគ្រប់គ្រាន់ទៀត សម្រាប់ធានាកំណើនសេដ្ឋកិច្ចប្រកបដោយចីរភាពនៅកម្ពុជា?

𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐚: 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐍𝐨 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡?

Over the past two decades, Cambodia has kept economic policy remarkably "good" by every standard measure: trade openness, macroeconomic stability, and manageable debt. That good policy fueled decades of 7%+ growth and pushed the country into lower-middle-income status in 2015.

But CDRI's research says the playbook that got Cambodia here won't get it to the next stage. Moving workers from farms to factories, getting kids into school, mobilising savings for investment, these levers are nearly exhausted. Wages are rising fast, work hours and investment are near their ceiling, and there's limited room left to squeeze more growth from adding labour and capital alone.

This is the Middle-Income Trap: growth that runs on accumulation eventually hits diminishing returns.

The way forward? A shift toward productivity: technology adoption, stronger worker and within-firm management skills, and smarter use of existing resources.
