mproving your English language skills in a short time requires a focused approach and consistent practice. Here are some strategies you can use:

1. Set Clear Goals: Define what specific skills you want to improve (speaking, writing, listening, or reading) and set achievable targets.

2. Daily Practice: Dedicate time each day to practice. Even 30 minutes can be effective if done consistently.

3. Immerse Yourself: Surround yourself with English through movies, music, podcasts, and books. This will help you become familiar with accents, vocabulary, and common phrases.

4. Speak Regularly: Practice speaking with native speakers or language learners. Consider joining a language exchange or conversation group.

5. Use Language Apps: Leverage apps like Duolingo, Babbel, or Memrise for structured learning and vocabulary practice.

6. Focus on Vocabulary: Learn a set number of new words each day, and use them in sentences to reinforce your memory.

7. Engage in Writing: Write short paragraphs or journal entries in English. Focus on grammar and sentence structure.

8. Listen and Repeat: Practice listening to native speakers (videos, podcasts) and repeat phrases to improve pronunciation and intonation.

9. Take an Online Course: Enroll in an online English course to get systematic instruction and feedback.

10. Be Patient and Persistent: Language learning takes time. Be patient with yourself and stay motivated through steady practice.

By incorporating these methods into your everyday routine, you can make significant progress in a short period.

Part 11
Past Perfect Simple

Sub + had + v3 + … + before + past simple
Sub + had + v3 + … + by the time + past simple
Sub + had + v3 + … + by .............

I had done my homework before I went to bed.
She had eaten breakfast before she went to school.
We had left by the time you arrived last night.
He had arrived home by 10 pm yesterday.

The time expression "before," "after," "by the time," "already," "never," "until," "once," and "twice" are commonly used with the past perfect tense.

Exercise:
1) When I arrived at the cinema, the film ………………….. (start).
2) She …………………(live) in China before she went to Cambodia.
3) After they …………….(eat) the shellfish, they began to feel sick.
4) If you …………………(listen) to me, you would have got the job.
5) Julie didn't arrive until after I ………………………….. (leave).
6) When we …………………………….(finish) dinner, we went out.
7) The garden was dead because it …………… (be) dry all summer.
8) He …………………. (meet) her somewhere before.
9) We were late for the plane because we ……………..(forget) our passports.
10) She told me she …………………. (study) a lot before the exam.

Part 10
Present Perfect continuous

Sub + have/has + been + v(ing) + …

Positive and Positive Short Form

I have been walking
I've been walking
you have been running
you've been running
he has been cooking
he's been cooking
she has been swimming
she's been swimming
it has been raining
it's been raining
we have been studying
we've been studying
they have been sleeping
they've been sleeping

Unfinished actions

1: To say how long for unfinished actions which started in the past and continue to the present. We often use this with 'for' and 'since'.

I've been living in London for two years.
She's been working here since 2004.
We've been waiting for the bus for hours.

This use is very similar to how we use the present perfect simple, and often it's possible to use either tense. Of course, with stative verbs, we can't use the present perfect continuous.

I've been here for hours.
NOT: I've been being here for hours.

2: For temporary habits or situations. The action started in the past and continues to the present in the same way as with use number 1, but we don't answer the questions about 'how long' so clearly. Instead, we use a word like 'recently'.

I've been going to the gym a lot recently.
They've been living with his mother while they look for a house.
I've been reading a lot recently.

This is very similar to the use of the present continuous for temporary habits and often either tense is possible.

Finished actions

3: Actions which have recently stopped (though the whole action can be unfinished) and have a result, which we can often see, hear, or feel, in the present. We don't use a time word here.

I'm so tired, I've been studying.
I've been running, so I'm really hot.
It's been raining so the pavement is wet.

The present perfect simple has a very similar use, which focuses on the result of the action, whereas the present perfect continuous focuses on the action itself.

Exercise:
1) She ……………………. (work) here for five years.
2) I ………………………………………(study) all day.
3) You ………………………………..(eat) a lot recently.
4) We …………………………….(live) in London for six months.
5) He ……………………………….. (play) football, so he's tired.
6) They …………………………………(learn) English for two years.
7) I ………………………………… (cook) so I'm really hot.
8) She ………………..….(go) to the cinema every weekend for years.
9) It ……………………………………….(rain) the pavement is wet.
10) You ……………………………………(sleep) for twelve hours.

Practice makes perfect!

Part 9
Present Perfect

Sub + have/has + v3 + …

-The kids have studied for 3 years.
-He has repaired the car.
-Sok hasn’t done the homework yet.
-We have seen this movie twice.
-Have you written the letter?

'Since' and 'For’

+We use 'since' with a fixed time in the past (2004, April 23rd, last year). The fixed time can be another action, which is in the past simple (since I was at school, since I arrived).
-I've known Sam since 1992.
-I've liked chocolate since I was a child.
-She's been here since 2pm.

+We use 'for' with a period of time (2 hours, three years, six months).
-I've known Julie for ten years.
-I've been hungry for hours.
-She's had a cold for a week.

Been and Gone

+In this tense, we use both 'been' and 'gone' as the past participle of 'go', but in slightly different circumstances. We use 'been' (often when we talk about life experience) to mean that the person we're talking about visited the place and came back.

-I've been to Paris (in my life, but now I'm in London, where I live).
-She has been to school today (but now she's back at home).
-They have never been to California.

+We use 'gone' (often when we are talking about an action with a result in the present) to mean that the person went to the place and is at the place now.

-Where's John? He's gone to the shops (he's at the shops now).
-Julie has gone to Mexico (now she's in Mexico).
-They've gone to Japan for three weeks (now they're in Japan).

Part 8
Past continuous, past simple

While + past continuous + past simple
While I was sleeping, the phone rang.
The phone rang while I was sleeping.
While I was eating, the chicken jumped.

When past simple, + past continuous.
When the phone rang, I was sleeping.
I was sleeping when the phone rang.
When the dog ran cross the road, I was riding motor bike.

We use the past continuous to say that someone was in the middle of doing something before now.
Last night, I was dreaming about you.
It is common to use the past continuous and past simple to tell stories. The past continuous describes an action in progress. The past simple describes a shorter action that interrupts it.
I was dreaming about you when my alarm rang. I turned it off and continued dreaming.
It is common to use when or while to link the two actions.
Use while before the continuous action:
While I was doing my homework, the electricity went out.
Use when before the continuous action or the shorter action:
When I was riding my bicycle, a dog ran in front of me.
I was riding my bicycle when a dog ran in front of me.

Exercise
Use the correct form of the verb to complete the sentences.

Example: It was raining (rain) when I woke up (wake up) this morning.

-Sopheak ……………………. (break) his leg while he ……………………….. (play) football.
-I …………………… (not/see) them because they ……………………..(hide) behind a tree.
-The students ………………………(talk) when the teacher ……………………. (return).
-While he ..……………………… (swim), someone ……………… (steal) Dy's moto.
- A: What …………you…………………. (do) when you heard the news?
B: I ………………………….. (talk to) my grandfather when we heard it.
