Technical Drawing Class | By Mr. Heang Hong Rithanith

FD & FMM students will find Technical Drawing class to be very beneficial in understanding garment construction details from a design perspective. This module train you to manually illustrate apparels as a technician or engineer. Different from the usual glamourous fashion sketches, technical drawings or flats are more realistic, accurate, and used to communicate specific details for production such as how many buttons are needed, how to get in and out of the garment, the type of stitches, finishes, and pocket used. In a commercial design firm, a fashion designer job starts with trend research, sketching designs, presenting collection concepts, then finish with technical storyboards. After that, the collection will go into sample production with the help of pattern makers and seamstresses. Below is the work from Heang Hang Rinthanith (Jam), one of our first year student in his 9 months of study; his manual technical illustration skill is superb using just a pencil, pen, and gray marker on paper.
