In times of crisis and uncertainty,
there are always people who choose to help others ❀️

Red Cross and Red Crescent volunteers and staff continue to work tirelessly to support people affected by crises, conflict, and disasters.

Through neutral, independent, and impartial humanitarian action,
they bring relief, hope, and dignity to those who need it most.

No matter where, no matter when,
we remain United in Humanity.

Today is World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day 🌍

We honor the volunteers and staff who turn compassion into action β€” helping, healing, and standing beside people when it matters most.

In a world shaped by differences, our shared humanity is what brings us together.

They are friends, family, and communities supporting one another.

Together, we are United in Humanity.

In the past year (2025), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Regional Delegation in Bangkok has continued its humanitarian mission across seven countries:

πŸ”΄ Providing emergency assistance to people affected by conflict and violence
πŸ”΄ Strengthening cooperation with governments, civil society, and Red Cross/Red Crescent networks
πŸ”΄ Acting as a neutral intermediary in situations along the Cambodia–Thailand border, including visiting detainees and helping them stay in contact with their families

Throughout the year, the ICRC has also:
βœ”οΈ Supported rehabilitation services for thousands of people with disabilities in Cambodia
βœ”οΈ Covered medical treatment and physical rehabilitation costs for those affected by the situation in Myanmar who are in Thailand
βœ”οΈ Responded to emergencies such as flooding in Laos and supported vaccination efforts along border areas
βœ”οΈ Continued to build the capacity of staff and volunteers across the region

Today we mark the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action β€” a moment to remember that the impact of war does not end when the fighting stops.

Landmines and explosive remnants of war remain hidden in fields, villages and roads long after conflicts end. For many communities, everyday activities like farming, walking to school, or collecting water can become life-threatening.

In 2024, 6,279 people were killed or injured by landmines and explosive remnants of war, and 90% of victims were civilians. Nearly half were children.

These numbers remind us that explosive hazards continue to affect families, communities and entire generations.

Preventing the use of these weapons, clearing contaminated land, and supporting affected communities are essential steps to protect civilians and build a safer future.

Join us to congratulate the team of students from Royal University of Law and Economics on receiving the Second Honorable Mention for Best Memorial (Defendant) at the 24th Red Cross International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Moot Competition (Asia-Pacific Round), held in Hong Kong.

This year’s competition brought together 22 teams from across the Asia-Pacific region. After four days of rigorous rounds, Handong International Law School (Republic of Korea) emerged as the champion, defeating Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (Japan) in the final round. The Best Mooter of the Final Round was awarded to Mr D**g Hyun Lee from Handong International Law School.

The team from the Royal University of Law and Economics demonstrated strong preparation and performance, particularly in legal research and written advocacy in the field of international humanitarian law.

We warmly commend the team for their hard work and commitment, and look forward to seeing their continued success in future international competitions.

Children are among the most vulnerable victims of landmines and explosive remnants of war.

In 2024, nearly half of civilian casualties were children (46%).

Curiosity, unfamiliar objects, and daily routinesβ€”walking to school, playing outside, collecting waterβ€”place them at risk.

Explosive hazards can cause devastating injuries, long-term disabilities, and psychological trauma that affects a child’s entire future.

Protecting children means preventing the use of these weapons and clearing contaminated land.
