Does Cambodia really want a fully fledged Free Trade Agreement with the EU? What needs to be done to begin negotiating one? Isn't the General Systems of Preferences (GSP) good enough? Or, perhaps the GSP+? With Cambodia's looming graduation from the LDC status in the background, EU Ambassador H.E Igor Driesmans explained basic requirements for any FTA and stressed the importance of "reciprocity" and asked whether Cambodia would be ready to entertain such a requirement. Not to mention new regulations that need to be put in place and their implementation. At any rate, as the global trade regime is going through deep transformation, building long lasting trust and mutually beneficial relationships with numerous trade partners are key to generating and sustaining growth.
