NGET Phorn who was born at a wet village in Kompong Reap Commune in Takeo Province, a distant poor community from the town proper. The small village, which is always flooded throughout the year, is inhabited by poor families, including mine, which could hardly and readily send their children to school. My village life was extremely difficult, characterized by enormous problems, most especially whe
n I was accepted by the school at a tender age. I spent 11 years to ride a boat, swimming and crossing the floods just to get educated at school. Fortunately, during my high school years, I stayed at a Pagoda for 4 years until I completed my high school education. It was not enjoyable at any moment living at the pagoda as I felt ashamed with my situation. I was not interested dwelling in the Pagoda because it was very boring and overcrowded. There were instances that I felt hopeless and helpless because I missed home. I had no choice but to stay at Pagoda for my education. After I graduated from Grade 12, only two of us in one commune came to Phnom Penh to pursue Bachelor studies, my friend and I. When I began my early years at the university, I also spent as part of my aspiration to be an active volunteer at Paññãsãstra Student Senate and other organizations. I got involved with student activities because I could have a good chance to help poor people and students who lacked motivation. In these organizations, we worked to promote quality education, leadership skill, commitment to morality, our Khmer culture as well as inspired students to involve in volunteerism. I have been engaged as a student volunteer with a big heart to help since 2015, and do so up to now. I volunteered to build houses, toilets, libraries at schools, and also contributed funds in these endeavors in poor rural areas. I have raised resources for an orphanage. I asked my friends to join me to teach and make meals for the disadvantaged children. I also volunteered to lead project community, workshops, seminars, trainings, competition and meetings. I had gained good experiences in leading community outreach projects, workshops, clubs and association. I involved and participated in several debate trainings, meetings and won the Champion of Public Speaking Contest. I learned about research work and quickly performed new tasks. I use to be a manager at Independent Learning Center (ILC) of Pannasastra University of Cambodia. I am currently President of Paññāsāstra Student Senate (PASS) of Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia. As a highly committed in life journey, I have a vision to become a different educator, leader and business relations as well as in the society. These are specific reasons which touché my heart and I set my mind to win for my life. I commit to spend my energy for enhancing my living, learning, leading and loving skills, most especially in community development works with high sense of morality, acceptable social behavior, added golden values and better understanding of the roles of people and Cambodia. I will work hardest and smartest to make the responsible, responsive and reliable to advance the betterment of all people in all by enabling them to share their knowledge and abilities for the society.
