Senior Student Highlight: Sokhathavine!

An interesting fact about Thavine is that she believes hojicha is much better than matcha, can’t handle spicy food but still loves eating buldak, and has lived abroad in Australia.

Her favorite subject is Microeconomics because it applies logic to real-life situations and helps her understand why people make the decisions they do. The most challenging assignment for Thavine is the Research Capstone Project because it is very time-consuming and demanding, as she is fully responsible for the entire research process from start to finish.

Outside of school, Thavine enjoys playing volleyball. Her most memorable moment at AUPPHS-FA is celebrating with friends at prom. After graduating from AUPPHS-FA, Thavine hopes to pursue nursing in Australia. Her advice to juniors at AUPPHS-FA: “Friends come and go, so don’t beat yourself up for it.”

Senior Student Highlight: Soursdy!

An interesting fact about Soursdy is that she loves volleyball and takes it very seriously.

Her favorite subject is AP Human Geography because she finds it interesting to learn why people behave in certain ways, and she also appreciates how kind her teacher is. The most challenging assignment for Soursdy is Research, as she has to complete a handwritten research paper without using any devices. She believes the subject that will prepare her most for life after high school is Physics because it is very important, especially since she wants to study architecture.

Outside of school, Soursdy has been involved in a volleyball club. Her most memorable moment at AUPPHS-FA is participating in community service with her friends. After graduating from AUPPHS-FA, Soursdy plans to major in architecture. Her advice to juniors at AUPPHS-FA: “You should always be ready for university and the future, especially in grades 11 and 12.”

Senior Student Highlight: Chansomphors!

An interesting fact about Somphors is that before enrolling at AUPPHS-FA, she was a competitive swimmer at her previous school, and she enjoys baking in her free time.

Her favorite subject is AP Microeconomics because Mr. Radley made the class consistently engaging, and the subject challenged her to think more critically about how the world works. The most challenging assignment for Somphors is Research, as it required a great deal of independence and critical thinking. Outside of school, Somphors joined both the Volleyball and Badminton clubs, and she represented the school in competitive volleyball. In addition, she participated in charity-driven tournaments and ran marathons to support community service initiatives. Her most memorable moments at AUPPHS-FA are the friendships she built and winning the ISSAPP B Division Volleyball Championship.

After graduating from AUPPHS-FA, Somphors plans to spend the summer with her family and friends before moving abroad to continue her studies abroad.

Senior Student Highlight: Aliza!

An interesting fact about Aliza is that she enjoys shopping, watching movies, and spending time with her dog.

Her favorite subject is Microeconomics because it helped her understand how people, businesses, and markets make decisions. Learning about supply, demand, and pricing showed her how the economy works in everyday life, which made the subject both interesting and practical.

Outside of school, Aliza is involved in various activities such as spending time with her family and friends, helping with cooking at home, and taking care of her dog by walking and looking after him. Her most memorable moments at AUPPHS-FA include class field trips, the STEAM Expo, and Khmer New Year games in Khmer class. After graduating from AUPPHS-FA, Aliza plans to pursue higher education at a university where she can continue exploring her passions and develop new skills.

Senior Student Highlight: Harika!

An interesting fact about Harika is that she always has a favorite word or phrase she uses until she finds a new one, right now, it’s “epic.” She also doesn’t like any kind of fish, whether it’s tuna, salmon, or anything else.

Her favorite subject is AP Microeconomics. Even though she doesn’t consider herself an “economics person,” Mr. Radley’s teaching makes the class much more enjoyable. The most challenging assignment for her is Research, as she can spend hours working on it and still find small issues. Sometimes, she focuses too much on grammar and misses what is actually required in the rubric.

Her most memorable moments at AUPPHS-FA are the times she spent laughing and joking around with her friends, even if there isn’t one specific moment that stands out. After graduating from AUPPHS-FA, Harika plans to attend university. Before that, she hopes to get her driver’s license so she can go café-hopping and enjoy the things she didn’t have time for during the busy school year.
