RUPP and Soongsil University Explore Opportunities for Research Collaboration

On 17 August 2026, the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP) welcomed Prof. Yunsang Lee, Director of the Integrative Institute of Basic Sciences (IIBS) and Associate Director of the SSU G-LAMP Group, Soongsil University, Republic of Korea.

The visit was led by Mr. Kean Tak, Vice-Rector of RUPP, representing H.E. Prof. Chet Chealy, Rector of RUPP. The programme included an academic meeting and a visit to the Optoelectronics and Advanced Materials Lab (Opto.Lab), providing an opportunity to exchange knowledge and explore potential areas for academic and research collaboration.

The visit further strengthened opportunities for future institutional cooperation, research collaboration, academic exchange, and joint scientific activities between RUPP and Soongsil University.

On Wednesday, August 12, 2026, following an official welcome by Prof. Dr. Ravy Oum, representing the Royal University of Phnom Penh, and the Graduate School of Science-RUPP, two Japanese students from Niigata University—Ms. Ayumi Sakurai (G-Dorm Medium-Term Program) and Mr. Hiroya Kobayashi (G-Dorm Research Exchange Program)—were introduced to the Optoelectronics & Advanced Materials Lab of the Royal University of Phnom Penh.

The two students are being supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tharith Sriv and co-supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vibol Sao for the whole G-Dorm activities at RUPP.

The Optoelectronics & Advanced Materials Lab warmly welcomes both students to the laboratory and wishes them a fruitful and enjoyable experience!
