‼️An Appeal to the World Regarding the Cambodia-Thailand Border Tension
⭕️The world is urged to examine Cambodia with deep thought and sincere reflection. In times of war, misinformation and manipulation abound—but Cambodia's history cannot be distorted before the eyes of scholars, the international community, and the world at large.
🩸Cambodia, a land that rose from war to peace, will never choose the path of war again. Peace is the lifeblood of 17 million Cambodians. The international community must see clearly: Cambodia stands for peace, and it is calling on the world to see the truth, act justly, and hold aggressors accountable.
🔷Let it be known that the "stability" Cambodia enjoys today was not given freely. Cambodia has shed more blood to reach this peace than Thailand has sweated in its modern development.
🌍 The World Should Be Aware:
🇰🇭 Cambodia has a population of approximately 17 million, while 🇹🇭 Thailand's population exceeds 70 million.
⚔️Cambodia's 2024 defense budget is approximately $1.3 billion, compared to Thailand's $5.73 billion.
‼️Can anyone truly believe that a country like Thailand—with its strong economy, large military, and massive population—is now claiming to be under military threat from a nation like Cambodia, which is still, developing, and facing economic pressure from international tariffs, including those imposed by the United States?
‼️Can one really believe that Cambodia—a nation committed to peace, a supporter of East Timor’s ASEAN accession, and a regional advocate for resolving the Myanmar crisis—lacks the wisdom to assess the consequences of WAR?
⭕️ What would become of Cambodia, a country relying heavily on tourism, exports, foreign investment, and growing industries and technology sectors, if it were to choose conflict?
⭕️Why would a nation full of hardworking youth, focused on building the future, seek war to destroy itself? Shouldn't this question prompt global consideration?
‼️And if, hypothetically, Cambodia were to attack Thailand first—wouldn’t that be equivalent to an act of economic su***de? Can the international community reflect on this?
🔷Cambodian people say “Thank You, Peace”
-It Is Not Just a NATIONAL Slogan
It is the voice of a nation that has painfully learned the cost of war, genocide, and colonialism. Cambodia knows the true value of stability—because it earned peace with great sacrifice.
🔵Cambodia has slowly risen from the ashes of war and genocide under the Khmer Rouge, determined to uphold peace as the foundation of national rebuilding.
🔴In contrast, Thailand, which often projects an image of military leadership, has experienced 13 military coups since 1932—the most recent in 2014.
🔷What global standard of political culture praises such a legacy as a "peaceful" model? Are these not acts of unchecked military influence replacing democratic expression? Is this not political interference through the barrel of a gun, rather than diplomacy?
🔴From 2006 to 2011, Thailand saw five Prime Ministers, including Thaksin Shinawatra, General Surayud Chulanont, Samak Sundaravej, Somchai Wongsawat, and Abhisit Vejjajiva—leaders amid constant internal political turmoil.
🔲 The coups in 2006 and 2014 were often justified in the name of “national stability,” yet in truth, they weakened civilian governance and fostered militaristic nationalism, which continues to provoke neighbors like Cambodia—especially along the border, where Thailand’s military presence remains aggressive.
🩸 Escalation of Tensions at the Border
Tensions dramatically escalated following the May 28, 2025 incident, in which a Cambodian soldier was fatally shot by Thai troops in the contested Area. Cambodia considers this an unprovoked act of aggression by a self-confident Thai military acting without cause.
🟦 Following the incident, Cambodia filed a case with the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on June 15, 2025, seeking a peaceful, legal resolution despite growing provocations from Thailand.
💭The world must recall that on July 15, 2008, Thai troops violated Cambodian sovereignty near the Preah Vihear Temple, igniting armed clashes that continued from 2008 to 2011. This came after the UNESCO World Heritage Committee recognized Preah Vihear as a Cambodian site—a decision backed by the international community and opposed by Thailand.
🟥Thailand's response demonstrated a pattern of historical territorial ambition, rooted in political and military expansionism. Is this not why Thailand resists settling the dispute through international law?
📌Recent Provocations Must Be Condemned
Following the fatal shooting Cambodian Soldier on 28th May,
📌Thailand unilaterally closed the border, without any official diplomatic notice to Cambodia.
📌Thai authorities threatened to cut internet access and electricity supplies.
⭕️Thai political elites and commentators used inflammatory rhetoric, threatening that Phnom Penh could be captured in 3 days, and that Thai warplanes could reach Cambodia in 5 minutes.⭕️
⭕️Moreover, when Thai soldiers were injured by landmines on July 16 and July 23, Thailand quickly accused Cambodia—without evidence—to justify further military pressure and tighten control over disputed areas.⭕️
Are these the words of peace-loving leaders?
‼️Thailand speaks the language of power. Cambodia, in contrast, speaks the language of peace. This contradiction deserves global scrutiny.
🔵Cambodia’s Commitment to Peace
Since the 1991 Paris Peace Accords, Cambodia has pursued peace through international cooperation, rebuilding its economy and social stability.
Every step of its development is proof of its commitment to peace, achieved through sacrifice and national unity. To launch a war—without cause—would not only betray the will of the Cambodian people, but also destroy the remarkable economic and social progress earned through decades of suffering.
