🌏💙 Clean Air Day — Our Shared Responsibility

Today, 7 September 2026, we join the global community in marking the International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies, a reminder that clean air is essential for our health, environment, and sustainable future.

To mark this meaningful day, the AIR-SATREPS Project is contributing through action and capacity building. Today, we conducted an AirLab Orientation, introducing students and young researchers to our air quality monitoring and chemical analysis facilities, equipment, and research activities.

Through hands-on learning, research, and knowledge sharing, AIR-SATREPS continues to strengthen local capacity for understanding and addressing air pollution in Cambodia.

Every effort toward better knowledge and stronger capacity is a step toward cleaner air and healthier communities. 🌱

We are pleased to introduce the Cambodian Society for Environmental Science and Engineering (CSE), a professional society established in 2026 to advance environmental science and engineering in Cambodia.

CSE is committed to promoting academic research, fostering innovation, facilitating knowledge exchange, and strengthening collaboration among researchers, students, academic institutions, government agencies, industry, and environmental professionals.

As an independent national platform, CSE connects diverse stakeholders to exchange research findings, emerging technologies, and practical solutions for addressing environmental challenges in Cambodia and across the Mekong region.

Together, we believe that science, engineering, and collaboration are essential to building a more sustainable and resilient future.

Follow our page and join us as we work together to advance environmental science and engineering for a sustainable Cambodia.

On 5 June 2026, SATREPS Clean Air Cambodia organized the workshop “Towards a Comfortable Atmosphere through Science” at the Ministry of Environment, Cambodia.

The workshop shared recent progress of the Air-SATREPS project, including PM2.5 characterization and source analysis, potential environmental risk extraction, and social implementation of the air pollution risk management platform.

The workshop also included invited talks by Dr. Uranishi, The University of Kitakyushu, on air quality modeling, and Dr. Yuba, Asia Center for Air Pollution Research (ACAP), on EANET’s contribution to science-based air quality management.

We sincerely thank the Ministry of Environment, ITC, ACAP/EANET, and all project members for their valuable participation and discussion. The project will continue strengthening collaboration toward evidence-based air quality management in Cambodia.

On June 4, we held an Air SATREPS session at the 15th ITC Scientific Day.

As part of our project activities toward the establishment of a risk management platform for air pollution in Cambodia, many presentations were delivered by SATREPS researchers and students.

We were also honored to welcome three guest speakers: Prof. Mitsuhiko Hata, team leader of Air SATREPS from Kanazawa University, Prof. Hidekazu Yanagimoto from Osaka Metropolitan University, and Ms. Sreyvich Sieng, a doctoral student at Kanazawa University. They shared their research on PM2.5 measurement technology, human behavior analysis using wireless signals, and the seasonal and spatial characteristics of PM0.1 in Cambodia.

In addition to the session, we also introduced the overview of the Air SATREPS project and the equipment used in our research at the exhibition booth. This provided participants with an opportunity to learn more about how air pollution is monitored and analyzed through the project.

The session and booth exhibition provided a valuable opportunity to share scientific findings on air pollution, exchange ideas with students and young researchers, and further strengthen research collaboration and human resource development under the Air SATREPS project.
