And limestone is included in carbonate group and the common carbonate minerals fall into three main groups, the calcite group, the dolomite group, and the aragonite group. And Only calcite, dolomite, and aragonite are volumetrically major minerals in limestones. However, one-fifth to one-quarter of all sedimentary rocks in the stratigraphic record are carbonate rocks.
