A new article: “The Role of Family in the Socialization and Educational Success of Cambodian Children”
Journal name: Journal of Research in Social Sciences and Language (will be included in Vol. 6, Issue 3, 2026).
This exploratory qualitative study examines how Cambodian children perceive family influence on their moral development, academic support, and schooling experiences. Drawing on interviews with primary students in Phnom Penh, the study highlights three key dimensions:
- value and behavioural socialization
- home-based academic support
- family structure and learning dynamics
The findings reveal that while moral guidance and emotional encouragement are consistently strong across families, significant disparities exist in academic support and learning conditions, shaped by socioeconomic factors and parental availability. The study offers important context-specific insights into family roles and educational inequality in Cambodia.

Forthcoming Book Chapter:
Challenges of Higher Education Development in Cambodia: Balancing Internationalization and National Relevance
----------
This chapter critically examines the evolving landscape of higher education in Cambodia, focusing on the complex interplay between global aspirations and national relevance. It explores how the global race for academic prestige, driven by international rankings and the world-class university discourse, has shaped institutional strategies, policy reforms, and the ambitions of Cambodian universities. The analysis highlights Cambodia’s rapid post-conflict expansion, the emergence of a vibrant private sector, and persistent challenges such as fragmented governance, underfunded research systems, and inequalities in access and quality. The chapter addresses the imperative of internationalization, finance constraints, infrastructure, and language, and the risks of dependency and homogenization. Drawing on Cambodia’s experience, the chapter reflects on the tension between global prestige and local mission, the need for context-sensitive policy interventions, and the importance of decolonizing higher education.
Competition in Higher Education and the Role of Internationalization in University Rankings
In an increasingly globalized economy, higher education institutions face intensifying competition to attract students and international recognition. University rankings have emerged as influential benchmarks shaping institutional strategies and policy decisions worldwide. Within this competitive la...

📖Book chapter: AI in Higher Education: Attitudes and Acceptance Among University Students in Cambodia
📕Book title: The Future of AI for Development
(Series/volume: Digital Insights)
📢Publisher: Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS)
Chapter Overview:
This chapter investigates Cambodian university students’ attitudes, acceptance, and use of artificial intelligence in higher education. Drawing on the Technology Acceptance Model and related frameworks, it identifies attitude toward AI, perceived ease of use, and institutional support as key predictors of students’ intention to adopt AI technologies. While students generally hold positive perceptions of AI, actual usage remains moderate, revealing an intention–practice gap. The chapter concludes with practical recommendations to strengthen infrastructure, training, localization, and ethical integration to support responsible AI adoption in Cambodia’s higher education sector.
