All is Found ❄️
🌊 Be Like Water, Annaul Recital of Adult Students 2026
It’s the theme song from Frozen II, where Elsa and Anna were discovering secrets of their family’s origin. This is a lullaby, which was sung by their mother when they were young.
The thing that touched me the most was the story took the river like a human being - even the water turns into different forms as in a cycle, it never really disappeared. So what if the river has memory? Can you brave what you most fear, can you face what the river knows? These are my favourite lyrics in the song. ☺️
As a tradition, we perform “something new” every time at the adult recital - to share the fact that even we’re teachers, we are still on the ever-learning journey of music. So here we go - I’m singing and playing the piano! I told myself, I wouldn’t sing like Adele anyway, but I would do my best on stage.. 🙈 (P.S. It’s very hard to sing and play at the same time)
Piano Duets with Ms Katy
Hi, I’m Ms Katy. I’ve been teaching the piano since 2013. Hope you enjoy my duet videos!
I Broke My Clarinet 😨
🌊 Be Like Water, Annaul Recital of Adult Students 2026
It is a very famous French folk song “J'ai perdu le do de ma clarinette”, which has been translated to Japanese lyrics for a country which loves the clarinet. It is highly amusing to listen to, since when it is played on any instrument, the instrument is deliberately made to sound as if the notes are broken. Listen to this 6-hand piano version played by three members of the family - so much fun! 👩🏻👦🏻👦🏻 🎉
Andantino (in the style of Martini)
🌊 Be Like Water, Annaul Recital of Adult Students 2026
The "in the style of" series by Fritz Kreisler refers to a collection of charming, short violin pieces published primarily around 1910. While Kreisler initially presented these works as arrangements of compositions by baroque composers, he later revealed them to be entirely original compositions.
This Andantino is one of the notable works in the series frequently performed with piano, cello, or orchestral accompaniment. Here’s an arrangement for violin and piano. Enjoy 😊
Misty 💧
🌊 Be Like Water, Annaul Recital of Adult Students 2026
It is a jazz standard written and originally recorded by pianist Erroll Garner, as an instrumental piece in the traditional 32-bar format. Lyrics were added later. The song then has been recorded by many artists, including Ella Fitzgerald. The jazz chords and triplets are the signatures of song, and were very well-played here. Well done! 👏🏻
Ballade pour Adeline 👶🏻
🌊 Be Like Water, Annaul Recital of Adult Students 2026
It is an instrumental piece by Richard Clayderman, composed by Paul de Senneville. Senneville composed the piece as a tribute to his newborn daughter, Adeline. The sales of the recording have reached 22 million copies in 38 countries. If you’re ever taken piano lessons, you probably have played it, or heard of it. Here comes the duet version. Well done! 👏🏻
Heigh-Ho 🍎 ⛏️
🌊 Be Like Water, Annaul Recital of Adult Students 2026
It is a song from Walt Disney's 1937 film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. It is sung by the group of Seven Dwarfs as they work at a mine with diamonds and rubies, and is one of the best-known songs in the film. Listen until end of the song and you will hear the dwarfs going home and disappeared. Well done! 👏🏻
Memories of the Sea ⏳
🌊 Be Like Water, Annaul Recital of Adult Students 2026
It’s a beautiful piece in the impressionist style. Right hand represents the waves while left hand plays the melody expressively. The music is composed by a Japanese composer K. Tanaka, who dedicated the music to her teacher.
The challenge of playing this piece is not about how many notes to play, but the switch of the roles in both hands, and also the evenness and calmness of the “waves”. Very good control, well done! 👏🏻
“Raindrop” Prelude ☔️ (F. Chopin, arranged by P. Wedgwood)
🌊 Be Like Water, Annual Recital of Adult Students 2026
Chopin’s Prelude Op. 28, No. 15 is known as the "Raindrop" prelude. It is one of Chopin's most famous works. The prelude is noted for its repeated left-hand note, which appears throughout the piece and sounds like raindrops to many listeners. The original key is in D♭ major, while this version is arranged in C major. Well done! 👏🏻
Peach Blossom Takes the Ferry (桃花過渡) ⚓️
🌊 Be Like Water, Annual Recital of Adult Students 2026
It’s a Taiwanese folk song, originally from the Teochew opera "The Tale of Su Liu Niang" (蘇六娘). The story is about Peach Blossom, a lady, taking a ferry across the river and her interactions with an old ferryman.
This arrangement is quite unique that it’s harmonised with jazz chords. Together with a beautiful melody and lively rhythm, it’s quite a challenging yet joyful piece to play. Well done! 👏🏻
Waltz of the Flowers 💐 (from The Nutcracker)
🌊 Be Like Water, Annual Recital of Adult Students 2026
It’s an ensemble this time! 🤩 Our adult students don’t only perform on the violin and piano, they pick up a percussion instrument too! 🥁🪇🔔
The music is as graceful as petals dancing in the breeze, and it's got that waltz rhythm that makes us want to take a spin! 🩰 This is the very first time all 10 of us perform together. Well done everyone! 🥂
