2025 was more than just a year of tournaments.
It was a year of growth and believing in ourselves, even when we were just starting out.
We opened 2025 with a huge bang: a Champion title in January at KEDS Rookie, with Team Dojaejung taking the trophy, alongside our other 5 members bringing home 5 Best Speaker awards.
The momentum didn’t stop there. At the Youth For Change Debate Tournament, Team Grinch emerged as Grand Champions, winning a $500 grand prize and one of our member bagging a Best Speaker award.
Moving forward to CSDA Debate Open, our teams proved their consistency by finishing as Runner-Ups.
At the Arena of Scholars, WISDC truly dominated — with two WISDC teams facing each other in the finals, one becoming Champion and the other Runner-Up, both earning Speaker Awards.
In April, one team stepped onto the international stage at Angkor WSDC. Winning 2nd Best Novice Speaker was incredible, but what mattered most was the confidence gained from debating alongside peers from different countries.
At AUPP Debate Open, many members took their first steps into competitive debating, with one team finishing as Runner-Up, and 2 Speaker Awards.
One of the most unforgettable moments was traveling to Ho Chi Minh City for the Ho Chi Minh Debate Open. We returned with 2 Novice Speaker awards, our President breaking into Quarterfinals, and memories beyond debate — roller coasters, hotpot, and celebrating our Recruitment Officer’s birthday abroad. It reminded us that WISDC is not just a club, but a family.
This term, we welcomed 24 new members — 24 new voices. Watching them debate with excitement and fear reminded us why we started.
We ended the year strong at the China Schools Debating Competition. The Officers’ Team broke 8th in Open, and the Members’ Team broke 2nd in Novice, along with 2 speaker awards from both team.
🤍 2025 taught us that winning isn’t just about trophies. It’s about confidence, growth, and the people beside us. As we step into the next year, we carry every lesson, every loss, and every victory forward.
Forward. For us. Forever. For generational debaters of WIS and all.
