HPV stands for Human Papillomavirus. It is a very common virus that spreads mainly through skin-to-skin s*xual contact. Most people who are s*xually active will get HPV at some point in their lives.
1. Types of HPV
There are more than 100 types of HPV. They are usually grouped into two main types:
β’ Low-risk HPV:
Causes ge***al warts but usually does not lead to cancer.
β’ High-risk HPV:
Some types can cause cancers, especially Cervical Cancer, and can also cause cancer of the throat, a**s, p***s, va**na, and v***a.
2. How HPV Spreads
HPV spreads through:
β’ Vaginal s*x
β’ A**l s*x
β’ Oral s*x
β’ Skin-to-skin ge***al contact
β’ Sometimes from mother to baby during birth (rare)
3. Symptoms
Most people do not have symptoms and may not know they are infected.
Possible signs include:
β’ Ge***al warts
β’ Abnormal cervical cell changes (found through screening tests)
4. HPV and Women
HPV is the main cause of cervical cancer. That is why regular screening is important:
β’ Pap Smear β checks for abnormal cervical cells
β’ HPV Test β checks for high-risk HPV types
5. Prevention
You can reduce the risk of HPV by:
β’ Getting the HPV Vaccine
β’ Using condoms
β’ Regular cervical screening (Pap smear)
β’ Limiting number of s*xual partners
The HPV vaccine is very effective in preventing the types of HPV that cause most cervical cancers.
6. Treatment
There is no cure for the virus itself, but doctors can treat:
β’ Ge***al warts
β’ Precancerous cervical changes
β’ HPV-related cancers
βΈ»
β
Important for women:
Regular screening and vaccination can prevent most cervical cancer cases.
βοΈHPV vaccination schedule and age recommendations.
Health organizations such as the World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend:
β’ Primary target age: 9β14 years old (girls and boys)
β’ Catch-up vaccination: 15β26 years old if not vaccinated earlier
β’ Adults 27β45 years: May still receive the vaccine after discussing with a doctor
2. HPV Vaccination Schedule
Age 9β14 years
2-dose schedule
β’ 1st dose: Day 0
β’ 2nd dose: 6β12 months after the first dose
Age 15 years and older
3-dose schedule
β’ 1st dose: Day 0
β’ 2nd dose: 2 months after the first dose
β’ 3rd dose: 6 months after the first dose
3. Common HPV Vaccines
The most widely used vaccine today is:
β’ Gardasil 9
It protects against 9 HPV types, including those responsible for most cervical cancers and ge***al warts.
4. Who Should Not Get the Vaccine
HPV vaccination may be postponed or avoided if:
β’ Severe allergy to vaccine components
β’ Pregnancy (usually delayed until after delivery)
β’ Severe illness at the time of vaccination
5. Important Points
β’ The vaccine prevents infection but does not treat existing HPV infection.
β’ Women who receive the vaccine still need regular screening, such as a Pap Smear.
β
Key message for womenβs health:
HPV vaccination plus regular cervical screening is the best protection against cervical cancer.

womenβs health and wellbeing.
Women play many important roles in life. We are mothers, daughters, sisters, professionals, and caregivers. Because we take care of many people around us, sometimes we forget to take care of our own health.
Womenβs health is not only about treating illness. It is about prevention, self-care, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
There are a few important areas every woman should pay attention to:
First, regular health check-ups.
Women should have routine screenings such as breast exams, cervical cancer screening, and general health check-ups. Early detection can help prevent serious health problems.
Second, mental and emotional wellbeing.
Stress, work pressure, and family responsibilities can affect our mental health. It is important to take time to rest, talk to someone we trust, and ask for help when we need it.
Third, healthy lifestyle habits.
Eating nutritious food, drinking enough water, exercising regularly, and getting enough sleep are very important for our overall wellbeing.
Fourth, reproductive health awareness.
Understanding our bodies, menstrual health, pregnancy care, and family planning are essential for every woman.
Finally, I would like to encourage every woman here today:
Please prioritize your health. When women are healthy, families and communities become healthier and stronger.
Thank you very much for your attention, and I hope everyone enjoys the activities at todayβs Womenβs Health Fair.

Sports First Aid β Treating Injuries
First aid in a sport setting usually covers minor injuries such as sprains and strains to more serious ones, including concussion and cardiac arrest. Coaches, staff, or other bystanders must be ready to react in any emergencies and apply the correct treatment in a time-measured approach.
Some of the first aid treatments in sports injuries include:
RICE treatment (rest, ice, compression, elevation)
Management of internal and external bleeding
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
Use of automated external defibrillators (AED)
Treatment for muscle and joint injuries
Broken bones treatment
Management of asthma attacks and seizures
First aid for head injuries and concussion
Recognising chest pain and heart attacks
First Aid for an unconscious victim
Knowledge of basic first aid procedure help promotes a healthy, secure, and safer environment. It also instils confidence among players, coaches, staff, and other bystanders in the area.
Not just the medical help first aid intervention provides, but the confidence it gives is very helpful during emergencies. Thus, being trained in first aid is useful to oneself and the community.
