ELBBL-English Language Based Bachelor of Law Program

ELBBL is pleased to introduce an exclusive internship program designed specifically for Year 3 (last term) and Year 4 students.

Students will be given credit and will not be required to take the elective course.

The internship is worth between 3 and 6 credits. Students must comply with the internship’s rules and procedures to earn credit. The duration of the internship for 6 credits is 6 months full-time. For 3 credits is 3 months full-time or 6 months part-time.

Through this internship, students will:
- Gain hands-on practical legal experience
- Develop efficiency and ethical professionalism
- Learn through service-based opportunities
- Build valuable professional networks with prospective employers

Today, 08 May 2026, RULE–ELBBL proudly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ann & Associates Law Firm for the Student Internship Program.

Through this partnership, ELBBL Year 4 students will have the opportunity to intern at Ann & Associates and gain valuable hands-on experiential learning for their future legal careers. The program will help students build professional skills while also promoting access to justice and legal services, including strengthening legal aid and pro bono services through the support of student interns.

ELBBL remains committed to expanding meaningful experiential learning opportunities while staying true to its mission of preparing highly capable and practice-ready legal professionals.

Earlier this year, three of our outstanding students embarked on an academic journey at Melbourne Law School as part of the RULE-ELBBL–University of Melbourne partnership.

Through ELBBL’s nomination pathway for the dual degree and advanced standing program, they are able to pursue a Master’s degree at the University of Melbourne alongside their Bachelor’s studies at RULE-ELBBL.

On April 29, 2026, the Law Clinic of the English Language Bachelor of Law Program (ELBBL) at the Royal University of Law and Economics (RULE) organized a study visit for students to the Phnom Penh Court of First Instance. The purpose of this study visit to deepen students’ understanding of methods used in questioning offenders, victims, and witnesses; preparing defense arguments by lawyers representing victims and defendants; and the overall process of criminal trials, particularly in cases involving drug offenses and murder.

The visit also introduced students to Cambodia’s justice system, the roles of judges, prosecutors, clerks, and the organizational structure of the Court of First Instance.

The study visit was attended by our faculty staff and year 2 , year 3 and year 4 students of RULE. Out of a total of 73 students, 63 were present (including 53 female students), while 10 were absent.

Through this visit, students gained clearer insights into the differences between the theoretical knowledge learned in class and its practical application in court. They also developed a deeper understanding of the trial process in real cases, from the beginning to the final verdict, and received valuable advice from Mr. Bourachat and Mr. Yi Rith, which served as motivation to continue striving for success in their future studies and careers.

Our program would like to express its deepest gratitude to His Excellency Nguon Nara, President of the Phnom Penh Court of First Instance, for appointing Mr. Tit Sothea Bourachat and Mr. Yi Rith, along with the administrative secretariat and working group, to warmly welcome the students and provide presentations during this study visit.

Throwback to RULE-ELBBL team on their participation in the 50th Jean-Pictet Competition, held in Batam, Indonesia and Singapore from 22 to 29 March 2026 ✨🥳

Our students: Ms. Leng Chansovannarath, Ms. Hay Sarkunmealea, and Ms. Lav Somavotey joined with other 37 teams from various respected law schools across the world in this prestigious competition dedicated to International Humanitarian Law ("IHL") and International Criminal Law ("ICL"). Our students engaged in realistic simulations involving armed conflict, humanitarian crises, and military operations. Rather than traditional courtroom advocacy, the team assumed the role of legal experts, analyzing facts, identifying legal issues, and interpreting the law as well as applying treaties, customary international law, and key legal principles before the jury.

This competition strengthened the team’s ability to analyze complex factual scenarios, deepened their understanding of IHL and ICL, and enhanced their research capabilities. Moreover, it fostered critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and effective teamwork.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Coach Mr. Im Vireakboth and assistant coaches Ms. Choeng Sivhour, Ms. Ea Villinnich, and Mr. Sovan Vorchiybany for their guidance and continued support.

On April 25, 2026, ELBBL-Law Clinic-RULE organized a seminar on the topic methods of drafting criminal and civil complaints for year 2 ,3 and 4.

This seminar provided valuable opportunities for students and participants to gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, including, key elements to include in a complaint, essential facts that must be stated, sample formats of complaints, procedural requirements for filing complaints.
