They played against the Enfant Du Mekong Team of Sisophon for the opening day of the Bishop’s Cup 2026 in the Battambang Prefecture grounds last Saturday, 09 May 2026.⚽️

This Sunday, they will be playing against EdM- Battambang and we wish both teams all the very best!🙏

As we keep telling our FyA football players, more than winning, we want them to play to inspire all the girls and young women in Cambodia with their passion, courage, and wholehearted dedication. And indeed, in the training matches and in last Sunday’s game, they beautifully showcased strength, confidence, determination, teamwork, and sisterhood. 🫶🫶🫶

May more and more girls and young women in Cambodia dream big and work hard to reach their dreams. And may more and more circles that have traditionally excluded women here work toward these longed-for changes.

Sangkran at CLC was more than a celebration—it was a meaningful moment of community coming together. Students, teachers, parents, and guests shared Khmer traditional dance, games, and joyful connection. A special highlight was students preparing their own salad rolls alongside teachers and guests, then enjoying them together, strengthening teamwork, independence, and a true sense of belonging.

យ៉េយ៉េ!!នេះជាពាក្យដំបូងដែលយើងលឺចេញពីមាត់កុមារតូចៗដែលកំពុងតែរស់នៅក្នុងជុំរំភៀសសឹកមានក្ដីសប្បាយរីករាយនៅពេលដែរពួកគេបានឃើញពួកយើងដំបូងរួមជាមួយសម្ភារៈសិក្សាមួយចំនួន🥰វាគឺជាកម្លាំងជំរុញទឹកចិត្តពួកយើងឲ្យនៅតែ
បន្តបេសកកម្មមួយនេះកាន់តែខ្លាំង😍។ស្ថិតក្នុងស្ថានភាពលំបាកតែយើងបានមើលឃើញពីឆន្ទៈរបស់កុមារតូចៗដែលរស់នៅក្នុងជុំរំពួកគេពិតជាចង់រៀនសូត្រណាស់ពួកគេរំភើបចិត្តពេលដែលទទួលបានសម្ភារៈសិក្សាខ្លះៗដែលយើងបានយកទៅឲ្យពួកគេ។ ស្នាមញញឹមរបស់ក្មេងៗជាកម្លាំងចិត្តរបស់យើង❤️❤️

“Yaaaaay!” — shouted the schoolchildren at one of the camps for internally displaced people in Banteay Meanchey Province when they saw what we were giving out - not food, or toys, or clothes…. but educational supplies. Where books, notebooks, writing and coloring materials are received with such joy and love for learning, we are happy to be there! (Thank you Fr. Bros F Flores SJ visiting from Philippines for joining us then!!!)

This was the fifth such camp we had visited over the past 4 weeks. Many of these schoolchildren are now studying in makeshift tent-schools, unable to return to their villages or schools in the Thai occupied areas of Northwestern Cambodia. Although we are thankful for the ceasefire that has been upheld since Dec 27, the future of these schoolchildren and their families unable to return to their villages remains very uncertain.

Many of the camps we visited over the past two weeks have schoolchildren who have missed school for over two weeks now. When they fled their homes, very few of them were able to bring their study and play materials. 🏫📝

So if you can, please include storybooks, art materials, and even your old textbooks which kids in the camps can learn from! Even if they will be returning to their homes soon (as we all hope), they will still benefit much from these materials which they can take back with them. 📚✏️🖍️

Let’s help one another in minimizing learning loss and caring for the mental health and well-being of our children at this critical time! 🙏

It was not easy, but we endured and did our best to learn together!🥳🎉

The workshop on Strengthening Teaching practices using Understanding by Design and Ignatian Pedagogy for teachers of our FyA - network member schools last month had us grappling with new ideas for teaching and lesson planning. Some days, we got dizzy from all the thinking!😵‍💫

But in the end, the workshop speaker left us inspired and wanting to do more for our children!🌞😍

We are excited to try out many new things we learned – especially because we know that if we just keep doing things “the old way” we will never see the transformative education that we are all hoping for.

Thank you so much, Mrs. Thess Nebres-Ladrido of Xavier School San Juan, Philippines! Your flexibility, generosity in sharing your time and talent, and your infectious passion for teaching moved us all! (Hope to see you again next year!!!)

P.S… During our field visits over the last three weeks to several faraway FyA schools in the countryside, some of the teachers told us that the points you gave on lesson planning and on learning goals have been very helpful in their teaching practice. Hooray!

What a joy that our work involves developing the sense of awe and wonder in children!

Last week we gave the Grade 6 students of our Community Learning Center(CLC) a special graduation gift: a field trip to Siem Reap!

So many things wowed them:
– The beautiful rice fields along the way
– The magnificent trees in the Siem Reap riverside and the Royal Gardens
– the thousands of fruit bats (Cambodian flying foxes, to be precise) literally hanging out in those trees
– the monster fish of the Mekong (along with the cleaner-SCUBA diver in one of the tanks) and the myriad display of reptiles, amphibians, crocodiles, otters, sun bears, birds, and tigers at the Angkor Wildlife and Aquarium (AWA)

It was hard to tell, though, who was happier that day - our students or the FyA teachers and team members who came along!

*The Community Learning Center is a program originally established by the Xavier Jesuit School in the Phnom Bak Village campus, where students from the local public school (mostly children left behind by migrant parents) could come for co-curricular classes in English, Khmer literacy, Computer, and Khmer Dance. The program was inherited in recent years by FyA Cambodia and it has evolved from being a place to gain knowledge, to a place where students can experience a community of care, happy learning, fun, friendship, love for the environment, and shared journey.

ក្រុមការងារ សហគមន៍អប់រំ (FyA Cambodia) បានចុះសួរសុខទុក្ខកុមារដែលកំពុងស្នាក់នៅក្នុងជុំរំសម្រាប់ជនភាសសឹកដែលត្រូវបានផ្លាស់ទីដោយសារជម្លោះព្រំដែន ដែលកំពុងបន្តកើតឡើង។
ជីវិតនៅក្នុងផ្ទះបណ្ដោះអាសន្ន កង្វះបង្គន់និងកន្លែងងូតទឹក កង្វះអនាម័យជុំវិញកន្លែងស្នាក់នៅ ហើយមិនដឹងថាពេលណាអាចត្រឡប់ទៅភូមិរបស់ខ្លួនដែលនៅជិតព្រំដែនប្រទេសថៃភាគខាងជើង។ ទោះយ៉ាងណាក៏ដោយក៏ពួកគាត់នៅតែទទួលក្រុមការងារយើងដោយភាពកក់ក្ដៅ និង ភាពរីករាយ។

សូមកោតសរសើរ Caritas Cambodia និងសមាជិកដែលបានធ្វើការជាច្រើនសម្រាប់ប្រជាពលរដ្ឋ តាមរយៈការផ្គត់ផ្គង់តម្រូវការបឋមនិងទីកន្លែងសុវត្ថិភាពសម្រាប់កុមារសិក្សា និងលេងកំសាន្តនៅក្នុងជំរុំ។ ប៉ុន្តែអ្វីដែលគួរឲ្យអស្ចារ្យជាងនេះ មិនត្រឹមតែអង្គការមិនមែនរដ្ឋាភិបាល (NGO) ប៉ុន្ដែមានការចូលរួមយ៉ាងសកម្ម ដោយផ្ទាល់ពីសហគមន៍មូលដ្ឋាន (គ្រូសាលារដ្ឋដែលនៅជិតនោះ មេភូមិ និងចៅអធិការវត្ត) ដែលបានរួមគ្នាចូលរួមប្រមូលសមធម៌ក្នុងស្រុក និងចែករំលែកអ្វីដែលពួកគាត់អាចធ្វើបាន។ ខ្មែរជួយខ្មែរ។

វាមានរយៈពេលពីរខែហើយចាប់តាំងពីជម្លោះព្រំដែនបានចាប់ផ្តើម ហើយសហគមន៍ទាំងនេះត្រូវភៀសខ្លួនដើម្បីសុវត្ថិភាពរបស់ពួកគេ។ សម្រាប់ពេលនេះ កុមារមួយចំនួននៅតែមានអារម្មណ៍ថានេះជាដំណើរផ្សងព្រេង (ដោយពួកគេខ្លះនិយាយថា "យើងបានបង្កើតមិត្តនៅទីនេះក្នុងជំរុំច្រើនជាងពួកគេនៅផ្ទះ!") ប៉ុន្តែប្រសិនបើជម្លោះនៅតែបន្តអូសបន្លាយយូរ សូម្បីតែស្មារតីរីករាយរបស់ពួកគេក៏នឹងរលាយបាត់ក្នុងពេលឆាប់ៗនេះ ការសិក្សានឹងមានការរប៉ះពាល់យ៉ាងធ្ងន់ធ្ងរ និងភាពមិនប្រាកដប្រជានៃជីវិត ហើយការខ្វះសន្តិភាព និងស្ថិរភាពនឹងធ្វើឱ្យស្ថានភាពកាន់តែធ្ងន់ធ្ងរឡើងៗ។

យើងរួមជាមួយមសប្បុរសជនទាំងអស់ ក្នុងការអធិស្ឋាន និងហៅរកសន្តិភាព និងដំណោះស្រាយត្រឹមត្រូវចំពោះមូលហេតុទាំងឡាយនៃការជម្លោះនេះ។ ជាពិសេស យើងធ្វើបែបនេះដើម្បីកុមារ ព្រោះពួកគេជាអ្នកខាតបង់ធំបំផុតក្នុងសង្រ្គាមទាំងឡាយ។

Yesterday, some of our FyA – សហគមន៍អប់រំ team went to check-up on the children at the camps for people displaced by the on-going border conflicts here in the region.

Life in makeshift shelters, limited latrines and bathing facilities, muddy surroundings, and the uncertainty of when they could return to their villages near the Thai borders in the north did not prevent them from welcoming us warmly and joyfully.

Hats-off to Caritas Cambodia and to various NGOs that were providing for basic needs and safe spaces for children to learn and play in these camps. But more than the NGOs, the most remarkable goodness we witnessed there was from the members of the local community (teachers of the nearby government schools, village leaders, local government officials, and pagoda elders), generously mobilizing local resources and sharing what they could. Cambodians helping Cambodians.

It has been almost two months since the border conflicts started and these communities have had to flee for their safety. For now, some of the children might still feel this to be an adventure (with some of them exclaiming “We have made more friends here in the camps than they have at home!”) But if the conflict stretches on for any longer, even their joyful spirits will soon wane, studies will be severely disrupted, and the uncertainty of life, and lack of peace and stability will take its toll.

We join all people of goodwill in praying and calling for peace and a just resolution of all the reasons for the on-going conflict. And we do so, most especially for the children. They are always the greatest losers of any war.

យើងបានពង្រីកប្រធានបទបណ្តុះបណ្តាលរបស់យើងដើម្បីរួមបញ្ចូលការបង្រៀនគណិតវិទ្យាប្រកបដោយភាពច្នៃប្រឌិត ការលើកកម្ពស់ការប្រាស្រ័យទាក់ទងដោយអហឹង្សា ការគ្រប់គ្រងថ្នាក់រៀនជាការកសាងទំនាក់ទំនង និងការដោះស្រាយករណីនៃការគំរាមកំហែងដោយការយកចិត្តទុកដាក់ និងក្តីមេត្តា។
ហើយចំណុចសំខាន់ជាចុងក្រោយមួយទៀតនោះគឺ យើងបានរកឃើញឈ្មោះខ្មែរយើងហើយ!

Dear teachers and FB friends of FyA Cambodia, we have missed you!

So much has happened since our last post:

We started planting our first FyA Healing Garden here in Cambodia! Yay!

We built an FyA playground. Yay!

We are mentoring teachers from more and more government schools ! (Now 18 and still counting…!)

We expanded our training topics to include Creative Math Teaching, Promoting Non-Violent Communication, Classroom Management as Relationship Building, and Addressing Cases of Bullying with Care and Compassion.

And last but not the least, we found our Khmer name! សហគមន៍អប់រំដោយក្តីស្រឡាញ់
