Naryn American Corner

On May 19th, representatives of the U.S. Embassy met with the elementary group of the “English for Young Professionals” program participants in Naryn. During the meeting, the participants shared their opinions on the role of the English language in their work and future careers. At the same time, the Embassy representative talked about their home states in the United States, which helped students learn more about American culture and daily life.
In addition, the participants spoke about Kyrgyzstan in general, including its traditions, culture, and way of life. They actively engaged in discussions and asked questions, which made the meeting interactive and engaging.
Overall, it was a great opportunity for the participants to practice their English speaking skills in a real-life communication setting, improve their confidence, and exchange cultural experiences with native speakers.

🇰🇬🇺🇸🌏 American Corner Coordinators Gulzada Kurmanbaeva and Manas Murzaliev are proudly representing the Kyrgyz Republic at the American Spaces Workshop in Colombo, Sri Lanka!

This professional development workshop is designed to strengthen key skills in strategic planning, programming, and audience engagement— training staff to more effectively manage American Spaces.

✍🏻📲Participants are also exploring innovative tools and resources, including AI applications, eLibrary databases, problem-solving strategies, and successful program models from across the global network.

💡📚 Opportunities like this help build the capacity of American Corner teams to deliver impactful programs and better serve their communities.

On April 10–11, the Naryn American Corner, in collaboration with the Teachers’ Professional Development Center, conducted a training session for English teachers from different regions of Naryn Oblast.
On the first day, Peace Corps volunteer Jacob Larson delivered a presentation on how to improve students’ speaking and reading skills. During the session, teachers learned practical techniques and strategies that they can apply in their classrooms to enhance their students’ English proficiency.
We are grateful to all participants for their active engagement and commitment to professional growth!

Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program (Fulbright TEA) is open and accepting applications!

❇️ Eligible applicants must be:

Current secondary level (middle and high school), full-time teachers of English as a Foreign.
Teachers of language (English as a Foreign Language), math, science, foreign language, social studies, journalism, or communications, including special education teachers in those subjects, at institutions serving primarily a local population in the Kyrgyz Republic.
Recipient of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Have a minimum of three years of full-time teaching experience by the start of the program, with a preference for those who have completed at least five years of full-time teaching.
Demonstrated oral and written English language proficiency.
Citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic.
