Participants of the STEM Project in Kyrgyzstan, Natalia Deryabkina and Ruslan Rayimbekov have conducted cascade training for their colleagues in Aga-Khan Foundation school, Osh from August 6, 2021, to August 23, 2021. 27 teachers from STEM disciplines took part in the training. Teachers learned about STEM methodology which included inquiry, PBL, engineering design, and authentic learning. Through micro-teaching and providing feedback to each other, participants were able to experience the practical application of new teaching methods. Trainers also set a goal for developing a STEM curriculum for their school.

A total of 32 teachers from schools, universities, and NGOs took part in summer training of trainers to get prepared for cascading STEM sessions to their colleagues throughout the Fall semester. During the training participants of the training were able to practice the knowledge they have acquired during an online course, the project's first stage. They also learned essential skills for conducting training sessions for their colleagues!
The training was conducted by international experts in STEM Education Thomas Topham and Taylor Chustz and with advisory support from Jill Tyson, English Language Consultant sponsored by the US Embassy in Bishkek.
This is the second phase of the Transforming Teaching and Learning through STEM Education Project supported by the U.S. Embassy Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, and implemented by Lingua Public Foundation for Innovative Education.
This systematic work within the framework of this project will provide new knowledge and practical experience in the application of integrated teaching methods of STEM subjects and will allow accumulation training potential for the sustainable development of STEM education in Kyrgyzstan

29 participants from all regions of Kyrgyzstan gathered on July 8, 2021, for Phase II of the STEM 2021 project. The four-day training is being conducted with strict adherence to Covid mediation plans.
The training’s focus is to give opportunities for a deeper understanding of theories of learning needed to conduct effective STEM lessons. Goals are being met through (clean) hands-on, student-centered experiential learning using engineering design and authentic lessons, reflection, feedback, and analysis.
Another main purpose of this training is to prepare select participants for STEM 2021 phase III, cascading STEM trainings throughout the country.
