THURSDAY NIGHT PRAYER – LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS

Merciful and Ever-Present God,

As this day comes to an end, I come before You carrying the weight of what I cannot fully express.
There are moments when darkness feels close—
when despair whispers louder than hope,
when silence feels heavy, and answers seem far away.

But tonight, Lord, I call upon You—
the God who enters darkness and brings light.

Your Word declares in Book of Psalms 34:18
that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit.

So draw near to me now.

Step into every dark place within my heart.
Shine Your light where fear has settled.
Bring comfort where pain has lingered.
Restore hope where despair has taken root.

Lord, when I cannot see the way forward,
be my light.

When I feel surrounded by uncertainty,
be my peace.

When I feel alone in my struggles,
remind me that You have never left me.

Your Word assures me in Book of Isaiah 60:1,
“Arise, shine; for your light has come.”

Even in this night, I hold on to that promise.

Father, I release every burden of today into Your hands—
every worry, every disappointment, every unanswered question.

I refuse to carry them into tomorrow.

Instead, I choose to rest in You.

Let Your presence fill this night.
Let Your peace guard my heart.
Let Your Spirit quiet every anxious thought.

And while I sleep, O God,
work in the unseen.
Restore what is broken.
Prepare what is ahead.

Turn my darkness into light,
my despair into hope,
and my night into a place of renewal.

I lie down not in fear,
but in trust—
knowing that You are with me even here.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.
