⭐ Meet Ekaterina, Bachelor of Commerce (Finance and Financial Planning) student at Curtin ⭐

From starting her journey as an international student at Curtin College to earning merit-based scholarships and awards, Ekaterina is building her future in financial planning with the goal of becoming a financial adviser. Passionate about helping others, she is developing the technical, analytical, and people-focused skills needed to succeed in the financial planning industry.

Why did you choose the Curtin Universe?
I chose Curtin because it’s one of the best universities for commerce students, giving many hands-on opportunities alongside theory – which I think is essential to becoming a good specialist. As an international student, I appreciated the opportunity to start my degree at Curtin College as a pathway into Curtin University.

What do you like about the Curtin campus that you’re studying at?
Curtin has a very diverse campus, with lots of social events for different interests. When I walk around campus, I see many students a lot like me, who are also starting their journey. It’s wonderful to be able to talk with people who understand your experience.

What do you enjoy about your course?
I really enjoy the guest lectures, as they give exposure to the real world industry experiences. Some of the guest speakers are Curtin graduates, which gives me confidence about my future career. I also appreciate flexibility and class room interaction as it makes the study process less stressful.

What advice would you give to someone considering stepping into the Curtin Universe?
Value your time and take the opportunities given to you, especially the networking events and guest lectures. Don’t be afraid of asking questions because that’s how you learn and broaden your professional network. Learning is hard but the better you study, the more career opportunities will be available to you in future.
