A missing child is more than a statistic. It is a child missing school, missing opportunities, and missing the chance to pursue their dreams. Every missing child represents a future at risk.
Today, as we mark World Missing Children’s Day, we renew our commitment to protecting children from abduction, exploitation, and every threat to their safety and future. Let us be champions of child protection by working together with families, communities, schools, governments, and partners to ensure every child is safe, learning, connected, and thriving.
Today, we raise awareness, honor efforts to reunite missing with their families, and reaffirm our commitment to creating a world where every child is protected and every dream has the opportunity to flourish.

This session is part of the Daara Academy Pedagogy Series, a learning platform designed to strengthen pedagogical excellence across education organisations and deepen understanding of effective teaching and learning practices. Hosted by Daara in partnership with Mizizi Elimu Afrika, the webinar will draw on findings from the 2025 Mizizi Elimu Afrika and Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa (CEMASTEA) error analysis study, as well as insights from a multi-country pilot implemented across Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria, and Cameroon.
Session Objectives
The webinar aims to:
👉Share findings on teachers’ pedagogical content knowledge in early numeracy, based on Mizizi’s 2025 diagnostic assessment conducted across three counties in Kenya.
👉Present emerging patterns in learner misconceptions and error types identified through multi-country error analysis studies in Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria, and Cameroon.
👉Explore the relationship between teachers’ mathematical knowledge, learner misconceptions, and the design of scalable teacher support programmes.
Together, let us reimagine how foundational numeracy is taught, supported, and strengthened across Africa, ensuring every child gains the skills they need not only to learn mathematics, but to thrive in school and beyond. We look forward to learning, reflecting, and shaping solutions with you.
