Basic Education, Director General Dr. Elyas Abdi has said the National Education Sector Strategic Plan (NESSP) is among the key tenets of the Result Based Management guide in the development of the education and training sector.
Speaking today at KICD Kenya during a stakeholder meeting with the Ministerial Strategic Plan technical working group on the validation of the draft NESSP 2023 ~2027 by Education Development Consortium Group (EDPCG), the DG said "The Plan will define the strategic direction the Ministry will take in the next 5 years".
Dr. Abdi said NESSP is aligned to priorities articulated in the recommendations by the Presidential Working Party on Education reforms (PWPER), Kenya Vision 2030 and its Medium Term Plans, Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BeTA), United Nations 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among other International and regional treaties and conventions.
He said the Constitution of Kenya 2010, underscores the provision of quality education and training as a right and a fundamental to the success of the government’s overall development strategies
The meeting was attended by the Director Policy and Planning Chacha Mwita, Co-Chair EDPCG and Deputy Development Director, British High Commission, Eduardo Gray, representatives from State Departments for Basic Education, TVET and Higher Education and Research, SAGAs among others.
