Insights into everyday life at the Wings of Mercy Dabaso Academy

Today we would like to give you a few insights into the everyday life of the school and the orphanage.
The children live, play and learn here.
There is a kitchen in the school where meals are prepared for the children.
During the break, the children can play in the schoolyard.
The children love to play football.
The children learn in their classrooms and sleep in domitory, which are divided separately for boys and girls.

Dear brethren, who we have met before and those that we will meet in the near future, it is with great joy form me Rev William Fondo and my wife Naomi to be able to send you a word of appreciation for the great support and you being part of us we really are grateful. My name is William Fondo Gona married to Naomi Fondo, I am the director of Wings of Mercy Dabaso Academy and the Chafisi orphanage. Born and raised in the coastal area of Kenya in a village called Watamu. Allow me to take you through a brief history of how the orphanage and the school came to be.
Wings of Mercy Dabaso Academy is a private faith based school. Both the school and the orphanage are located in Dabaso/Gede area in Malindi sub county in Kenya. The idea of starting an orphanage and a school came in my heart because seeing children not go to school and having to stay at home broke my heart and I desired to be the change in my community. With my wife Naomi we thought it best to extend our love to these children who have no parents and take them to school.
We dint have enough but we knew that the little we had could be shared and create a smile on these kids faces that is how Chafisi orphanage came to be.
A home away from home we made it for these Children. We knew by educating one we would change the status of their families so we started the journey which became the source of our joy. God provided and we started with fourteen children in the home. Our big picture always was to see these children go to school get education and later be the change in their families. That how Wings of Mercy dream started. We started the academy so that the kids could get access to education easily and fulfill their dreams of being great people in the society and moreso get jobs to support their loved ones. So Wings of Mercy Dabaso Academy, was started in January in 2011 and it got officially registered with the Government of Kenya in the year 2012.

Since then the school has grown to 350 pupils.
Girls and Boys - mixed boarding school but not all of these children are orphans.

Type of children in the school:

1. Total Orphans.
2. Half Orphans.
3. Some have both families but live destitute life.
4. Abandoned children.
5. Other families are abit able to pay for the tuition fees.

We are greatfull to God for this far He has brought us. Wings of Mercy has also become a source of employment to the locals. Some are employed as teachers and others work in the Kichen. It is with great joy seeing children grow into great men and women.
