We are inviting schools across Nairobi County to give their learners an opportunity to Research. Discover. Create. Be Inspired.

🎨 The Challenge: Learners in Grades 8, 9 & 10 will draw an inspiring woman role model in STEM and share why she inspires them.

🏫 Maximum 10 learners per school

🏆 5 winning students + their supporting teachers will receive CASIO fx-82CW calculators featuring the winning artwork, CASIO watches, and an invitation to the award ceremony!

But beyond the prizes, every learner gets an opportunity to discover the stories and achievements of women shaping science and technology.

🌍 Welcoming Cohort 3 of the Women in STEAM Initiative Community Champions!

We are excited to welcome our Community Champions Cohort 3—a new group of passionate leaders drawn from different regions across Kenya, representing , , River, , , , and Gishu Counties. 🇰🇪

The Community Champions Program, launched in 2025, is a leadership, mentorship, digital literacy, and community empowerment initiative designed to equip young people especially women with the confidence, knowledge, and practical skills to become mentors, facilitators, advocates, and agents of change in their communities.

Over the next three months, our new Champions will undergo intensive training in leadership, communication, public speaking, 21st-century skills, digital literacy, emotional intelligence, mentorship, facilitation, program design, monitoring and reporting, and community engagement.

But the journey does not end with training.

Each Champion will take the skills they gain into their own community through a community empowerment project, reaching girls, young women, youth, and other members of their communities with , , and .

This is the power of the Community Champions model: we don't only reach communities—we equip people within those communities to become the change-makers.

📌 Sub-theme:Harnessing Technology and Digital Innovation for Girls’ Education

This is an important opportunity to share our experience in using STEM education, digital innovation, mentorship, robotics, coding and girls’ leadership to create meaningful learning opportunities for girls in schools and communities.

At Women in STEAM Initiative, we are helping schools create spaces where learners can explore, experiment, create and solve real-world problems through our school-based STEM Clubs.

From coding and robotics to electronics, 3D design, Arduino, AI and hands-on STEM projects, we make learning simple, fun, engaging and collaborative — giving learners the confidence to see themselves as innovators and problem-solvers.

🤝 A New Partnership for Greater STEAM Impact
We are excited to announce a new strategic partnership between Women in STEAM Initiative and Zindua Innovation Lab aimed at expanding access to STEAM education, digital skills, innovation and emerging technologies.

Through our MOU, the two organizations will collaborate to co-develop a scalable STEAM EdTech platform, deliver workshops, bootcamps, hackathons, seminars and innovation challenges, while creating stronger talent pathways for learners pursuing STEM-related opportunities.

A key focus of this partnership will be the Lake Victoria and Western Kenya regions, where we aim to reach underserved learners, educators, young innovators, universities and vocational institutions with practical STEAM and digital learning opportunities.

Women in STEAM Initiative will bring its expertise in STEAM curriculum, girls' empowerment and learner mobilization, while Zindua Innovation Lab will contribute its strength in technology, innovation, digital platforms and emerging technologies.

Together, we are building a stronger ecosystem where innovation meets opportunity and young people can turn ideas into impact.

🌟 From Community Champions trainees to Community Champions Trainers! 🌟

At the Women in STEAM Initiative Community Champions Program, we believe that true empowerment goes beyond acquiring skills—it is about building confidence, nurturing leadership and creating opportunities to serve others.

Today, we proudly celebrate Seline Wamwee (Kilifi County) and Mercy Chemomenyi (Kakamega County), who have progressed from being Community Champions trainees to becoming Part-Time Trainers. 🎉👏🏽

Their journey is a powerful reflection of what we strive to achieve: equipping individuals, raising excellent and confident leaders, and creating a ripple effect of impact within communities.
