Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT) is a Premier Technological University Excelling in Quality Education, Research and Technology Transfer for National Development that was established under the University’s Act 2012 by the Government of Kenya in December 2012. It is the successor of Kimathi University College of Technology (KUCT), a constituent college of Jomo Kenyatta University of Ag

riculture and Technology (JKUAT), which was established in 2007. DeKUT is a Chartered Public University that has two campuses: the Main Campus that is located 6 KM from Nyeri town along Nyeri- Nyahururu highway and Nairobi Campus located at Pension Towers, Loita Street. The location accords students of an enabling and serene learning environment. The Institution endeavors to provide an academically stimulating, culturally diverse and quality learning environment that fosters research, innovation and technology development towards producing relevant technical and managerial human resources and leaders to contribute to the attainment of national development goals. The University offers a wide range of programs both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in various schools and institutes. These include Computer Science and Information Technology, Engineering, Applied Sciences, Food Science and Technology, Health Science, Business Management and Economics, Geothermal Energy Technology, Geomatics, Geospatial Information Systems, and Remote Sensing, Tourism and Hospitality, Technical and Professional Studies. The University also offers diploma and Certificate courses for mid-level technical skills. The programs offered by the University are approved by the Senate and the various designated bodies like Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) and Commission for University Education (CUE) that was established by the government of Kenya through the Commission for University Education Act, 2010. Organized by DeKUT Startup and Incubation Center (DeSIC), the event reflects DeKUT’s journey towards becoming an entrepreneurial University. DeKUT Student Launches Book Titled Beyond the Horizon

DeKUT celebrated the launch of Beyond the Horizon, a book authored by Brian Okari, a fifth-year Telecommunication and Information Engineering student.

The book explores themes of identity, leadership, resilience, and personal growth, drawing inspiration from the author’s experiences and leadership journey.

The launch was officiated by Dr. Daniel Njoroge, Head of Career Services at DeKUT. During the event, Brian expressed his gratitude to the University Management, lecturers, mentors, family, friends, and everyone who supported the publication. As part of the occasion, he donated two copies of Beyond the Horizon to the DeKUT Library, making the book accessible to the wider University community.

The University Management held a consultative meeting with the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Curriculum Development, Assessment and Certification Council (TVET CDACC) facilitators, Dr. Sophia Ndolo and Dr. Kiberenge, as part of the ongoing four-day Competency-Based Education (CBE) training for DeKUT academic staff.

DeKUT hosted the Tier 2 and Tier 3 Mathematics Contest and interviews under the ENGAGE (ENabling Girls in Artificial Intelligence and Growing Expertise) Program, bringing together university students from across the region.
