LAIKIPIA UNIVERSITY SHOWCASES INNOVATION AT STRI WEEK 2026 EXHIBITION
Laikipia University participated in the Science, Research and Innovation for Society (STRI) Week 2026 Exhibition organized by the State Department for Science, Research and Innovation from 18th – 22nd May 2026 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre.
The University proudly showcased innovative research and technology-driven solutions from the School of Science and Applied Technology, Department of Informatics and Computing, including:
a) AI-Based CBE Path Advisor System by Cynthia Ngina Musau — an intelligent system designed to support learners through competency-based education pathways.
b) Secure Vote — a blockchain-based student election system aimed at enhancing transparency, security, and credibility in student electoral processes.
c) AgriOPEN Project Poster by Dr. Janet Nyukuri — a project focused on strengthening Kenya’s educational authorities’ capacity to support, manage, and govern competency-based, world-of-work relevant, accredited, inclusive, and widely accessible higher education in agriculture and entrepreneurship.
The exhibition team received immense support from the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kibet Rotich, and the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic, Research and Student Affairs, Prof. John Kanjogu.
The University stand was also visited by Dr. Shaukat Abdulrazak, providing an invaluable opportunity for mentorship, engagement, and encouragement.
Participation in the exhibition offered a great platform for benchmarking, networking, collaboration, and showcasing Laikipia University’s commitment to research, innovation, and transformative solutions for society.

CONDOLENCE BOOK OPENED IN HONOUR OF THE LATE DR. FLORENCE A. OPONDO
A condolence book in honour of the late Dr. Florence A. Opondo of the School of Business, Department of Commerce, has officially been opened at the entrance of the New Administration Block.
University Management led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kibet Rotich, joined staff and stakeholders in signing the condolence book and eulogising Dr. Opondo as a resourceful scholar, dedicated academic, and committed mentor whose contribution to the University community will be greatly missed.
Members of staff, students, alumni, and stakeholders are encouraged to visit and sign the condolence book as we continue to stand together in mourning and celebrating the life of our departed colleague.
Laikipia University has lost a distinguished scholar.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.
