Signs of a healthy vs sick animal .... What every farmer should observe daily
Observing your animals daily is key to a productive farm. Just like people, animals communicate their well-being through their behavior and appearance.
By being attentive to these cues, you can spot potential illnesses early, often before they become severe.

As a farmer, your animals "talk" through their behavior and appearance. Being keen on daily observation helps you catch illness early before it worsens.

Signs of a Healthy animal:
✅ Bright, alert eyes
✅ Smooth, shiny coat or skin
✅ Normal appetite and chewing cud (for ruminants)
✅ Active movement – stands, walks, plays normally
✅ Regular breathing and heartbeat
✅ Normal body temperature
✅ Firm, well-formed droppings
✅ Clean nose, ears, and mouth
✅ Normal milk or egg production

Signs of a Sick animal.
⚠️ Dull or sunken eyes
⚠️ Rough, patchy coat or hair loss
⚠️ Loss of appetite or not chewing cud
⚠️ Isolated, weak, or reluctant to move
⚠️ Labored or fast breathing
⚠️ Hot body (fever) or very cold extremities
⚠️ Diarrhea or abnormal stool
⚠️ Discharge from nose or eyes
⚠️ Sudden drop in milk/egg production
⚠️ Swellings, wounds, or limping

Farmer's daily routine.
• Observe animals during feeding and resting.
• Check for signs quietly without causing stress.
• Record anything unusual.
• Act early – isolate sick ones and call a vet if needed.

Healthy animals = a productive farm. Stay alert, stay prepared!
