The child who wants to know why we are learning things we can search online is asking one of the most important questions in education right now. The one whose brain is full just needs a break/time-out. And the one whose mouth opened by itself; that child is going to be a lawyer. 👀🧑‍🎓

But here is the thing >> every single one of these tells us something. The pushback, the questions, the creative explanations. That is a child showing us exactly how they think. And when a child is comfortable and free to show you how they think, you can teach them well.

That is what great teaching looks like. Meeting every child where they are, even when their mouth opened by itself. 🥳

Here is something most parents know well.

Your child goes to school in morning. You go to work. And for the next eight hours, you wonder ; are they okay? Did they understand today's lesson? Was the homework written down? Did something happen that you should know about?

For most parents, those answers come once a term; on report day. Or for the lucky ones, their child is chatty and narrates the entire day and learnings...

At Monark School, we decided that is not good enough.

This week, our learners return for Term 2 2026. Boarders reported back on Monday. Day scholars and learning resumed today, Tuesday 28th April. And this term, we are doing something that changes the relationship between school and home entirely.

This term, we have are live on SmartShule, our official digital parent platform. Every Monark parent will now see their child's school diary updated daily, homework posted the moment it is set, assessment results as they are recorded, and have a direct line to their child's teachers, not just during the end-of-term review, but any school day.

We value the partnership with parents, and are always adapting to strategies to excel.

Here is a question that has been sitting with us lately...

When your child comes home from school, what do you actually ask them?

"Did you eat?" ✅
"Do you have homework?" ✅
"What did you learn today?" ✅

All valid. All necessary.

But CBE curriculum is asking us, as parents, teachers, and as a society to go one level deeper. Not just what did your child score, but what is your child becoming?

Can they solve a problem you did not give them the answer to?
Do they stand up for what is right when no one is watching?
When they are bored during the holidays, do they create something, or do they just wait to be entertained? are they permanently "glued" to the TV/devices?

These are not school questions. They are life questions. And the honest truth is, no teacher can answer them alone.
