Today, we mourn the loss of a true pioneer of humanity and education, Ms. Hawa Aden Mohamed.

As the leader of GECPD and a honored UNHCR Nansen Laureate, she championed the fundamental rights of marginalized women, young girls, and displaced communities when they needed it most. Her lifetime of service opened doors of learning and protection where few believed it was possible.

The KBF team sends our warmest thoughts and condolences to her family, partners, and all those inspired by her tireless work. May her spirit live on through every child given a chance to learn. 🤍
