Of the first 45', +2 additional minutes of the first half of the Kenya V Togo match, the ball has only been in the middle third for 8 minutes with Kenya enjoying about 55% of possession and a goal from Johanna Omolo being 1 of the 2 shot on target Kenya has made.

Sofapaka Vs Wazito strategy involved numerous long balls with 55% of them directed towards Brian Nyakan, who had a 60% success rate in his ariel balls. He also managed 5 shots with 2 on target and scored the winning goal. Sofapaka ignored a lot passing lanes and spaces and directed most of their long balls, throwings, corners and goal kicks towards him. He proved a handful for the Wazito defense with Oswe, Omurwa and Wahome switching regularly to try and defend him unsuccessfully. This made him SaFra's Man Of The Match.

Lack of football quality and philosophy is to blame for Gor Mahia's lack of progress in the international scene, with very little competition been offered by other clubs in the league, For Mahia has entered a plateau in there play since without players like Tuyisenge, Karim, Kagere and a coach change they still manage to outclass most of the teams.

Kenyan football highly depends on long balls as their sole attacking strategy with flow passing being used only by KCB, Sharks and mildly by Western stima. An average of 30 long balls are made each game with most been taken by Posta Rangers FC (average of 40) and Gor (average of 35) with the least taken by KCB (average of 23) and Sharks average of 25). However Wazito (40 %) and Gor (38%) have the highest success rates of this long balls though none has led to a goal with all Gor Mahia goals coming from strategic set pieces (corners and freekicks) and crosses while Wazitos only goal being a penalty. This indicates the inefficiency of long balls and the EPL generally inversely proportional long ball to league tables standings ratio confirms this.
