What can i say but give all the glory to Jehovah God! Thank you for attending the Parenting Dialogues forum (November series) tonight. It was so humbling to have Jaqy who's clip went viral talking about her son's su***de... 😭😭😭. I trust that you learnt something valuable from the session. Thank you Nancy Ngetha for doing an excellent job in facilitating and sharing knowledge. It was such an eyeopener.
If you attended, please feel free to send me feedback, a testimony either in messenger, comment on this post or send an email to [email protected]. I'll share the YouTube link of the recording once ready on my channel: Terry Shiundu.
As i mentioned, this was our last session this year, lets connect again in January as the Lord enables us. What He has begun, He will accomplish! THANK YOU!
God bless you all abundantly and may the Lord grant you and your families peace that surpasses all understanding
Welcome to the November series of the Parenting Dialogues Forum! We will be discussing depression and su***de in the family and i'm honoured to host Nancy Ngetha, a Counselling Psychologist with over 20 years experience in nursing and counselling.
Mental health is not something commonly spoken about and sometimes treated taboo. As i have shared here before, i once attempted su***de but God delivered me.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), about 800,000 people die from su***de each year (that is one person every 40 seconds), majority of them aged 15-29 , in which age-group su***de is the second leading cause of death. In Kenya, WHO data estimates that 1408 people commit su***de yearly, or simply put, four deaths daily, a number that is higher than what the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics reported for 2018: 421 deaths. (Source: APHRC)
How do we handle depression and su***de when it hits close home? If you have any questions, please inbox and we can discuss during the session. If you would like to share your experience, as difficult as it may be, please inbox me too.
May God bring healing and comfort to anyone experiencing depression.
