e and develop children in special circumstances; children from streets or out of school due to social-economic and psychological factors while the vision remains to enable children realize their future in an empowered community. Currently at any one time the centre can accommodate 135 boys as per the current resources available. There are 18 qualified members of staff working with the children in the centre. Boystown compounded its work in addressing the needs of street and vulnerable children in Nairobi County and Ruai environs with basic services such as shelter, psychological counseling, food, basic medical care, spiritual nourishment, nurturing talents and basic primary education are provided to the children who are in the Centre. The target group for rehabilitation is only boys in the age bracket of 10-18years who come from the streets, slums and within Ruai environs. Many of the boys come from Korogocho slums, Dandora dumping sites, Kibera slums, Mathare, Mukuru slums of Nairobi County. The centre has semi-permanent structures built with iron sheets. There are 7 classes, from standard 2 to standard eight, three administration offices and the social worker’s office, three dormitories, dining hall, kitchen, food and tools stores, clinic and two houses for house fathers. The centre has a dairy farming project which is growing, gardening and poultry birds. These projects were set up to generate income for the centre in order to realize its dream of self reliant. The centre has various programs running concurrently. Among the programs we have psychological counseling, feeding program, education program, health program and talents program and accommodation services. The institution offers 8-4-4 curriculum to the boys. The centre has a Board of Trustees in place composed of three priests 2 from the Archdiocese of Nairobi and one a missionary from SVD and a management committee which foresees the daily activities in the centre.
