Kenya Dominates ANOCA Zone V Judo Games
Kenya delivered a strong performance at the ANOCA Zone V Youth Games, topping the judo medal standings with five gold, three silver and one bronze as the team continues its preparations for the Youth Olympic Games.
Among the standout performers was Rael Kulova, who claimed gold in the womenβs -52kg category after moving up from -48kg with the Youth Olympics in mind. John Ouko (-73kg), Kelvin Onganya (-66kg), Haron Benson (-60kg) and Abuta Vincent (-90kg) also struck gold for Kenya.
The performance was further strengthened by silver medals from Isaac Otieno, Quinter Gracious and Triza Juma, while Arnold Yafunga and Rosemary Wanjiru secured bronze.
National team coach Peterson Mbugua praised the athletes' performance, noting that the Games provided an important platform to identify and prepare athletes with potential to represent Kenya at the Youth Olympics.
With strong performances on the tatami and a growing focus on developing judo in schools, Kenyaβs next generation of judoka is showing plenty of promise. π°πͺπ₯
